You can dislike EA for whatever reason you want, but they have actually been known to market their games successfully in the past.

As one of the offended, that would only make things worse. There's nothing they can say that would assuage us. The most they can do is bow and scrape for our forgiveness, and they're above that--they shouldn't have to. Even if I'm mad.

Why don't you just lock the thread?  If you don't it is just going to devolve into a rage thread that is filled with spam.  That is the only course for it to run.

If they do that, the forum will be over run with spam, is better all in one place.

I don't dispute that. But this time, they have really screwed up, and the ME2 marketing wasn't too hot either. What I'm saying is that possibly (I'm not sure about my statement regarding marketing) EA should be considered the problem here, rather than Bioware.

I doubt it. This is no longer an issue up for debate. As certain as we were with one random picture that there would be a demo, as certain we can be after EA Czech's announcement as well as DA Legends' that there will be no demo.

Amazing how a little attempt a bit of humor is met with such hostility.

There was a bit of humour there too! Tiny bit. But it was there.

But yeah, it was mostly disappointment.

I do think that people are making too much of a fuss about this, as we weren't promised anything specific, but I also think the decisions here are... questionable.



The Facebook game we already knew about? Really? If you wanted my honest opinion, I'd just have to say that that's lame. It's really lame. I wish I could say something positive, but at the moment I'm not feeling anything terribly positive. Legends isn't what I'm excited about with DA2 on the horizon; not even close. 5 months after DA2, possibly. Right now, not at all.



I can kinda understand why some people are essentially quoting Rendon Howe on this one. ("Maker spit on you! I... deserved... more...") We've been waiting for new information on DA for what feels like quite a while now and to see nothing feels--it feels almost disrespectful. I hope it won't be long before that changes.

yes there is no demo, the announcement was that Legends has moved from dark beta to closed beta

So the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that Bioware felt the need to advertise with a flyer in DAA, was, infact, an announcement for a facebook game that virtually no one can play yet...wow...

True, except that that we are a month out and we have seen next to no marketing compared to Mass Effect 2, or even DA:O

We haven't heard femHawke's voice nor do we know the characters. They keep saying we don't get that it's a part of their "market strategy" but I don't think they get that it's a pretty terrible marketing strategy.

That is possible. I guess this might be basically an experiment?

Well, I don't think it worked very well. The timing feels all wrong to me. Maybe I'm wrong, though. It could be that the Facebook crowd will devour Legends quite happily. For me, though, it's not that big a deal. I would rather play Journeys and continue the storyline I already was interested in with a character I created.

It's definitely different than their previous strategy. I find it... odd. I guess it's good that we're not getting pelted with spoilers, but I would like to know at least what Lady Hawke will sound like, if not who our LIs will be. I mean, with all the articles out there about how nobody markets to women gamers and how it's a big untapped market... it's like, WTF?

Although I am not raging at the moment, I am a little sad. Mostly due to the fact that it seems like today contained no new info for Dragon Age 2. And since there was some hype around this day due to some leaked newsletter banners, a cryptic card, and some developer remarks, I stayed up late last night due to the excitement. Now I am tired today, and it wasn't worth it. I wasted my time. Is it my fault that I stayed up and engaged in the hype on these forums? Yes, but I felt that if a developer saw the hype, which they did, then they could have at least said something. Perhaps they weren't allowed, I don't know. But a lot of time of mine was wasted today(and last night) for announcements that aren't DA2 related.



So, I guess I am feeling frustrated that it seems like we (the forumites) were working ourselves up like a little kid who is excited because their parent hinted that they would be going somewhere really cool, and then the parent takes them to Grandma's house, which isn't a bad place to be, but the kid was expecting so much more and the parent basically let the kid get all excited without saying anything. It just seems a little mean I guess. I mean, it isn't their job to keep us in perspective all the time, but for a hyping as big as this was, couldn't they have told us straight instead of letting us build ourselves up for disappointment?
