Maybe next time they for-go it in exchange for making the crappy expansion a normal-priced expansion.

And it's going to sink them. I believe TOR is going to leave EA Bioware in financial ruin. They signed their death warrant the day they agreed to make an MMO given the current MMO market and just the economy in general. More experienced developers have tried and failed to make a successful kink in the armor of Blizzard's hegemony. I think EVE is the only game that can be said to be stable, and that's only because it's radically unlike anything else in the genre and thus has no real competition. But anyways, off topic. Bioware has at most a few years of life left. I'm counting on seeing the end of ME3 and then that's about it.wulfsturm wrote...

Which is unfortunate, since it has their best writers. Don't even get me started on that comic book pulp garbage that was churned out by Mac Walters and pals, labelled ME2.
Yeah, it just makes me wish all of those millions of dollars that are being funneled into TOR would find its way to DA2.TJPags wrote...
Indeed. I haven't followed the marketing
for ME3 or for TOR (not interested in those games) but I did watch the
game awards show a month or so back, because I heard there was going to
be an ad for a Bioware game. Given the March release of DA2, I figured
it'd be for that.
But no, it was for ME3, which has a late 2011 release date, IIRC.
Nice job.
On that note, aparently TOR is the most expensive game that EA has funded, ever.
Think about that, then think about DA2.

I think it will be more like LOTRO, it always had a stable player base but not particularly large.marshalleck wrote...

Like LOTRO, the game that failed and had to go free-to-play supported by microtransactions? :happy:werghu wrote...

Off-topic though, I'm done talking about TOR. Don't want to give Woo or Priestly or Pacifien a reason to lock this thread--I want it on the first page for days.

When does the facebook game get open to those without beta keys, and start giving dlc items?
If you watch this trailer, it says march 2011. Which is not very good because if it doesn`t come out before DA2, no one will play.
I will for the dlc. But I'm not making a facebook account.
Luckily, my friends mare their cats one, and I can use that.

Is this thread even about Dragon Age anymore? Discussing BioWare in general seems better suited for the Off-Topic Forum.
Sorry to disagree, but despite some off-topic stuff alot of people are still discussing / venting the announcement today. Closing it would be counter productive as it would likely lead to more spam elsewhere.

Chris said back in Aug that Feb. 1st wasn`t the release of DA 2 but we`d have something really special on this day. I still can`t imagine that they actually didn`t release ANYTHING, I mean yah they said that the facebook game (that everyone already knew about and some were playing) is still in beta but a new type of beta (when I log in to play it still says dark beta so maybe that`s not even true)Malanek999 wrote...

You're probably right about the release date. Hell, I'd forgotten about that card in Awakening until threads started popping up.
Bioware's problem was that, once they saw the rampant speculation, they did nothing to stop it, and in fact their snide comments only fueled it. Which made today's "big" announcement - that a FB game we knew was in beta-testing was actually in beta testing - nothing more than a kick in the face.

I didn't think DA:L would be ready to be officially released. But using this day to re-emphasis that DA:L is in Beta. Closed or Dark beta doesn't make a difference. It's still beta. What a waste.
They might as well have said that their new, super official, year long announcement was...
Dragon Age 2 is STILL in production!

I'd say not really, considering it's more people just venting their anger and saying they hate X and X people.

The name of the topic is announcement feedback. Hence, we're giving feedback about all things and parties involved in the announcement. That encompasses DA:L, DA2, Bioware, EA, lack of a demo/info, etc.

Depends on how much it costs to play per month... b/c really, who wouldn't rather play star wars over whatever the hell wow is?

Which would fit more in the Off-topic forum, I think. It's not really DA2 related if it involves all the others too.
