2.) How long before that demo gets cracked and put on a torrent?

I know I said I was going away but in light of this new info, well dayum. Initially restricting a demo to people who have already pre-ordered the game is just... the mind boggles.

It says that the gamestop employee demo is PC near the top.  it says being released to everyone on 2/23 in the fine print.

It does not clarify if the 2/23 release is for everyone, or PC exclusive.

You're missing the point.

2-1-11 card was given to us last year.  Speculation has been constant since then.  Indications from Biware (you can find Mike Laidlaw's quote in this thread) was that something special would happen on that date.  Word of a demo was leaked.  No denial from Bioware.  An announcement today that beta testing on DA:L continues.

And now, confirmation of a demo on 2/23.

The point is that Bioware itself basically wants to tell us nothing about this game.

Some people want to miss the point.

I don't think it really is worth the wait to even play the demo. But that's just what I think.

What's to explain? BioWare was nice enough to provide a demo for select companies as a source of information before the public and this is how they are thanked for it?  How many times have you gone to a Gamestop only to find out they know nothing or next to about a game that's coming out soon? Me? Often enough, this was a nice gesture meant to help everyone.

Again, for the 700th time, it's not about the existence of a demo. It's about an out of control marketing department that doesn't know its *** from a hole in the ground.

I view the 2-1-11 card and the leaked image promoting a demo as separate and distinct pieces of evidence.  One indicated something would happen on 2-1-11, the other indicated the possibility of a demo.  The only thing linking the two is speculation and hope.  Which amounts to nothing conclusive.

So today I saw a 2-1-11 announcement that I thought was lame, and I was thoroughly disappointed. 

I also saw confirmation that a demo exists, something I wouldn't have thought or expected before the leaked promotional image from a retailer.

I have been provided no evidence that these events are directly related.

No, people are complaining over how ridiculously unproffessionally this whole thing has been handled by EA and Bioware.

Oh and probably cause of the pc exclusivity. Especially hilarious to give Gamestop, which is more or less a console retailer a PC exclusive demo.

Ditto here. At our local Gamestop, of the 6 or so people there the only person who knows anything about games is a nice, chatty 20 something woman :3 Sort of nice when you can talk about various genres over various platforms and debate the merits of'em all.

Only store I buy games from, that's for sure. Maybe we just lucked out with good stores

Im a Best Buy gal myself. They've never let me down, and their customer service in my area is the best Ive seen.

On Topic: It seems very counter productive to announce something on the first, that will only be available to those who opinions arnt the best in the world 10 days after the fact, then give the fans, those that generally know what they;re tlaking about, it almost 2 weeks later.
