Lol... They're giving "exclusives" to employees of the company the re-sells their products and does not give them a dime of the re-sale money, while making those who pre-ordered the product WAIT along w/ all the rest of the unwashed masses.

This is retarded.

HDU I just took a shower today!!

Ok why couldnt they have just included the demo codes in with the signature edition pre-order? Make it so if you pre-ordered the signature edition you got a code for early demo access instead of making it Gamestop employees only.

I have a question! A legitimate one!

This early demo access is being granted to Gamestop employees only. Any
form of distribution, recording, posting of any elements of the Dragon
Age 2 demo and any of its files is strictly prohibited until February
23, 2011 when the demo is made available to all consumers.
Download Instructions: Please enter download code and click the download
button to start your download.

What does it mean by "all consumers". Will the demo be available to all by February 23? Or only to those who preordered at Gamestop?

Well, we don't know.

Unless Bioware tells us.

Which, given their marketing strategy and recent interaction, means we won't know until 2/23, when we try to find it.

Without any concrete evidence, I'll make the assumption that it'll be available to everyone.

This is all very confusing....

I hope that sometime before DA2's release date, this whole thing will be explained.

What's to explain? BioWare was nice enough to provide a demo for select companies as a source of information before the public and this is how they are thanked for it?  How many times have you gone to a Gamestop only to find out they know nothing or next to about a game that's coming out soon? Me? Often enough, this was a nice gesture meant to help everyone.

I'm going to slay darkspawn.

Well I am in the UK so I think our gamestop is game (which is the biggest chain games retailer in UK) and honestly most of the time I go in there to look for a game or infor on one - I know more than they do! Most employees seem not to care and as I believe was said by someone else are basically just casheers!

We don't know. It probably means all customers.

Again, you're missing the point, as evidenced by your snipping my quote.

I snipped away irrelevancies you could not prove.

The steps from A to B to C to D are there, and seem pretty obvious, given the number of people who get it.

We were led to believe there was a big deal coming on 2/1,  The only thing that occurred was the DA:L still in beta announcement.   There was never denial of the 2/1 demo leak, although that was later refuted.

All this needed was a statement that 2/1 was the original DA2 release date and it was pushed back, or a statement that no demo would be released on 2/1, or some other simple comment.  They gave none.

I feel this quote is an appropriate evaluation of your position:

The bolded bits are assumptions.  Unreasonable ones, but guided by emotional investment and hope.  That's why people are mad.

You see no big deal, that's fine.  I'll go join the several dozen others who also feel jerked around.

No, I see the events as unrelated.  I was annoyed by the 2-1-11 thing, and pleasantly surprised that a demo exists and I will be able to play it at some point prerelease, though I am a PC player.

Bioware, just so you know, I'm still angry at you, and while I don't have the willpower to boycott your games, I will boycott DA Legends even though I liked testing it this past week, but you guys are a-holes and even though the existence of a demo does appease me a bit, it angers me that you're not opening it to the public until the end of the month, shame on you.....

Just thought I'd share how I feel right now......

What is so bad about the demo being PC only (if it even is)?

We had to grin and bear it when multi-plat games like Dead Space 2 and Bulletstorm, both published by EA, had console only demos. Can't you guys on the other side of the fence deal with just one PC only demo?

Giving a PC only demo to Gamestop employees on the other hand is HILARIOUS

I resent that remark . It reeally depends on where you shop and more importantly who is doing the hiring for said stores. I worked for Gamestop for 7 years and consider myself very knowledgeable on all gaming platforms.

Blessed are they who stand before

The EA and the Bioware and do not falter.

Blessed are the complainers, the champions of the demo.

I love how people are complaining that there is going to be a demo now. It fills my belly with lulz.

Again, for the 700th time, it's not about the existence of a demo. It's about an out of control marketing department that doesn't know its *** from a hole in the ground.

I agree that the marketing has sucked from Day One. But I'm also pointing out that, regardless of context, people are complaining when the thing they want to happen... happened.

Uhm, no - I'm surprised, and happy, about the Demo. Didn't expect that, at all. However, within context, it's typical that not this ridiculous marketing department nor our community manager (though his hands are likely tied) announces this, but an unrelated 3rd person.

Mike Laidlaw commenting that they had "tricks" planned for 2/1 is an irrelevancy I can't prove?

Okay - this is OT.  Whatever.
