THERE IS NO CONFIMATION THAT THE DEMO THAT GETS RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC WILL BE PC ONLY!!!!!!

Oo i hate to quote caps but there it is... Anyway QFT.

The demo in question is a retailer-only deal. Which means access to it needs to be restricted until the public demo comes out. Since no such restrictions can be made on Xbox Live or the PSN, logic requires that the restricted demo be either a PC-only download -for now- or it be on an actual disc. The download is just cheaper...

Which means Bioware has more money to spend on us.

So be happy! We get shiny things because of this! yay! :wizard:

Sorry about that. Will edit the caps. Lost my cool due to people's lack of reading comprehension.

I feel bad for the guys at Bioware. The fans got trolled hard today, but poor Stan, John, Priestly, et al. are getting all the **** for it, and you know that it wasn't their decision. Better an e-mob than an actual mob, I guess...

So expect u pc ****s to post spoilers like crazy wants it comes out to dry me tears and tide me over till my xbox sig edition is released! You hear me?! :bandit:

Yeah, that was a bit unnesscary :? I'm a PC user for games like this but I don't go about giving spoilers to make console users cry till they're dry

(Edit: Blast you quote thing!  stop messing up! lmao)

Let's call this guy Steve.

Mysterious guy in charge of deciding when Steve gets to say things:  "You can't comment on the retailer exclusive demo to the public until Date X"
Steve: "Will do boss"  (wants to keep his job)

Forum:  "Tell us about the retailer exclusive demo on Date X-20"
Steve: *silence*

...a dramatization.

Lol, people aren't going to travel all the way to Canada to protest a demo not being released a month before the actual game.

I have never seen such piranha-like frenzy on this site and its over a demo. Amazing.

Nothing in either the pc or console versions is affected - you know, the versions that people will actually buy and play.

File this thread under self entitlement.

the riots there are fierce, but mostly controlled. Havent you watched the news?

Didn't Fox News (I'm Canadian mind you, but I saw this on /b/ so I'm sure it is true!) post a picture of a map with Egypt in between Iran and Jordan? Silly geese, unless Egypt moved up on the map when I wasn't looking.

(Fox News as in the American news corp/whatever they are.)

Also thanks very much for the posts Stanley and John, well done on basically bringing all the rage to a halt (mine is gone at least).

Although to be honest, it's not gone so much as replaced with confusion

Agreed.

I wish the situation with the whole 2/1/11 announcement had been handled differently, but with all these leaks piling on at the worst possible time in terms of PR, I feel bad for the guys and gals at Bioware.

Let's add that the conversation continues:

Other employees:  Steve, the info is all over the place...
Steve:  Mysterious guy, the information has leaked . . .we really should release SOME information about SOMETHING

The ball is now in mysterious guy's court.  And yes, I'll assume you're response will be:
Mysterious guy:  what did I tell you, Steve?  Day x, and not before...

And then I'll add - that's a dumb way to operate.

I've never seen such over dramatic reactions to demo or a date... well, ever(outside of MMO people, but, well, that is a whole different beast). I honestly don't get it. I mean some people ahve spent what seems to be a good chunk of a full day complaining about nothing happening on 2/01/2011... that just seems excessive.

On the plus side though, it has given me some pretty entertaining material to read through. I didnt even realize this many people thought that flier was this big of a deal... I just must not be as dedicated of a fan as I thought?

Fair enough, Stanley.  I'll extend apologies to you and John (whose post I didn't quote, but read) if you feel I overextended.

Really, we're totally cool with saying what we can when we can. But when everyone's got their pitchforks and lightsabers out, it's difficult to wade in and be a voice of reason. I often have to set myself up as the target and let people shoot me a few times before they start to really listen to what I'm saying and think about what they're posting.

However, would it be fair to ask you to relay a request that someone who CAN comment, do so?

way ahead of you. I sent off just such an email an hour ago. You likely won't get anything at all until tomorrow, even if someone can and chooses to wade in here. No promises, at all.

I mean, I think you can both see that, beyond the snarkiness, what we really want at this point is the answer to 2 simple questions:

1) is there a demo which will be released to the general public on 2/23?
2) If so, will it be available on all platforms?

Thank you.

Don't mistake me for an internet newbie, TJPags. I've been reading this thread since it all started. I know precisely what the questions are. but a lot of this hoopla has been happening long after the office has shut down for the night. I'm finding it a welcome distraction while I'm working late tonight. John is likely posting from home, which answers a different question about whether we can access our Mod accounts from home.

Funny thing is, most of the people raging are people just joining the thread, and wanting to pitch in their complaints.

Not to go too far off topic, but haven't over 100 people beem killed, as well as several thousand injured? I'd hardly call that peaceable...

If you want to get the last word in I'll let you, I don't want to take the thread off course.

ETA: Thanks a lot to both Woo and Jon for the response.

wonders if anyone at Bioware has ever uttered the following without a drop of irony:
"Man, the forums are blowing up, we should do something!"  I'm guessing no.

Woo sent off a request to Mysterious guy, so we'll see.

So... nothing amazing is going to happen today after we've all been left in the dark wondering what would happen on 02.01.2011 for months now? Not even a new video? :crying: I apologize if it sounds as though I'm whining, but I honestly can't help but feel really disappointed.
