anyways... demo's are supposed to promote people to play the game and generate word of mouth hype for the game.. why limit it to Gamstop employees? its absurd. Marketing here makes me scratch my head raw.

@Meltemph - You are so right man! This has turned into a PR dream - multiple websites are abuzz, the forum has been blowing up... I'd say they've drummed up a lot of interest with very little effort (or cost).



I'm all for it Bioware, hope you make tons of $$$$ so you can make ever bigger, more amazing games in the future!

Mysterious guy probably has things to consider that we may not be aware of or view differently than he does.  But in general I don't disagree.

Yeah, and naturally there may be (or rather likely are) things we don't even know we don't know about, but the whole issue with today is that Boss Man should have seen this 2/1/2011 brouhaha coming a mile away and had something ready to go- something a bit more substantial than the announcment of a closed beta going into another beta stage. And the complete silence with the whole deal is mostly what set people off. I'm sympathetic, but it seems like something didn't work right today.

Over the course of two days, I have successfully road the RAEG wave across to demo threads that both reached over 100 pages in under a day, and now we finally have confirmation of the demo.



I feel accomplished.

What's ironic is the game is releasing six days after my birthday, and I preordered it when the Signature Edition deal was going on.

I call that an epic birthday gift. (*cough*that I got for myself*cough*) =D

You really think so?  Considering this already has almost HALF the views of the current Fenris topic?  For a failure of marketing, I would say the outcome is pretty "alright".

This is not a new marketing strategy. Book and music stores have been doing it for years.

Car salesmen do it to, they drive the cars to get a feel for them so they can relate it to the customer.

That is not my point at all.  My point is that everyone wigging out is only adding more fuel to the fire.  Confusion or not the 140+ pages because of a logistic failure is not exactly a traumatic event for the prospect of the game selling, I would bet.  

Not to mention I find the drama surrounding this to be quite entertaining so it's a win win, imo.

I'm thrilled that we're actually getting a demo regardless of Gamestop's early access. Hopefully it's a gameplay demo and not just a Character Creator (though I'd be pretty pleased with that too), so I can get a feel for how the PC version plays now.

Realistic expectations helped with the sanity part, and simply having fun, not being a jerk helped with the not getting torn to shreds part. (something some people in this thread could use a lesson in)
