Pirating anything is generally frowned upon. And there's really no reason to pirate, as those of us non-Gamestop folk get it a week after they do anyway*
*Barring, of course, any "surprises" regarding the demo, such as purchase restrictions and whatnot.

People are acting like a little leaflet was the promise of a cure for cancer and peace on Earth! Half of this thread is full of the most inane, unnecessary and completely baffling overreactions to have ever come out of this board, and that's saying something.
Anyone that was significantly invested in the event or announcement that would occur on 02/01/11, and feels that investment was justification for this kind of level of overt outrage is a whiny, blabbering child. End of story.
They have continuously been telling us that 02-01-2011 would be an important date for DA fans.
You might not understand the anger, but I do. And I think it's justified--so long as we keep the insults and the spamming out.

Still think bioware could have handled the announcement today better, but we will live.
Well ya they could have handled it better by actually having something. I personally do not believe that they had anything anymore for that date, because it got lost in the shuffle. But to me, since there was 0 context to the idea of the date it was more of a "haha, nice oops there".
I understand people think they could have handled it better(that is kind of a duh think to think, to me) but the rage and all the other stuff in this thread is nothing short of hilarious to me. I mean what negative did the lack of "whatever was supposed to happen" create, outside of failed personally created expectations?
I'm assuming people who are legitamitly upset about this had idea's in their head? I would think they must have to care to the degree show... unless it IS bloviating, but that is hard to tell on these forums to me.
The date, coupled with the leak of those scandinavian emails the night before, formed some pretty strong preconseptions about what was going to be announced today. And when it turned out not to be the demo, people RAEG'd.

They have? All I've personally ever read from them is that "something" will be talked about on this date. I mean, I never got the impression that whatever was planned was going to be anything "ground breaking" personally.

Why? Has the game itself been contaminated, delayed?
While there are real issues like DRM, price points, and platform preference to discuss, this thread seems just petty.

i thought 2-1-11 was going to be another expansion pack or the relase date of da2
Was likely the orignal release date for DA2. But, it probably got covert delayed, so they had to come up with filler for today, thereby leading to the rage fiasco earlier.

No, I don't think they kept saying it would be an important date at all. I think that's your imagination talking, to say it was an important event foreshadowed to said level. They haven't hyped it up at all- I never even HEARD about it until very recently, and I've been lurking on the forums since before DA2's announcement.
They HAVEN'T been keeping the insults or the spamming out. The reaction has been WAY out of line, and not justified.

In context it's talking about the Lion of Orlais shield and the Fadeshear sword. Two items that you can also get from Amazon.com and Direct2Drive under precisely the same conditions. Though apparently not from Amazon.co.uk.

Because we were misled. No, don't say we weren't--on top of the Awakening leaflet, that newsletter was what really started all of this. Rather than adding a simple "There may or may not be a demo, but there will be no release for one tomorrow" that stepped on no fingers, they let us get hyped up for something we all really wanted.
It's blatantly unprofessional. And we're customers. Like I said, the insults, the name-calling, the spam is unnecessary. But irritation and disappointment are understandable.

Wait a minute, never mind. I misread it, I thought it said people who preordered the Signature Edition from Gamestop would get the demo too.
Never mind, in this case, nothing has changed. I'm happy that I took advantage of the Signature Edition deal by preordering Dragon Age 2 from Amazon and getting it upgraded to the Signature Edition for free, before the deal went away..

If Bioware was so much as restricted from commenting on either until a set time (which has passed for 2-1-11, and has not for the demo image), they were doing their job as professionals by saying nothing and simply enforcing site rules. Which is precisely what they did.
It would be unprofessional to violate whatever agreements bind them to such silence just to placate some upset people on the internets. Stan Woo says he sent off an email to whoever could give answers, all that's left to do now - or I'd argue all we should have done in the first place - is wait and see.

In addition, I doubt that a 360 or PS3 demo could be distributed digitally and discreetly the way a PC demo could, which is why there is no mention of said platforms in this very limited sign-up sight not meant for the general public.
I have very little doubt that when the official release comes on the 23rd, that all three platforms will have the same demo released. This is given some credence by their PR's emphasis on developing the game for all platforms simultaneously and not wanting inferior ports, their desire to give both PC gamers and Console gamers an equal experience, as well as their need to hype the game as much as possible in every venue to help fuel their newly announced goal for record-breaking sales.

PC and Gamestop exclusive? I could live with all the exclusive DLC-items, but this is taking it too far. Hyping yesterday a year in advance for nothing and then pulling a dick move on us like that. I mean wow. How much did Gamestop pay for this? Wouldn't it have been more profitable to release a demo for everyone?
Well, it's not Gamestop exclusive as they are just getting a secret sneak peak as retailers to be able to have more informed employees to help move more copies of the game, and the demo will be public just a week or so later.
Additionally, there is NO PROOF that the demo will be PC exclusive when it goes public, and logic actually dictates that it probably won't be, because how could they have made a release of a demo on XBOX Live or the PSN a secret, unless of course you're a Gamestop employee with a unique code? They couldn't. That's the point.
