*Gamestop customers who pre-ordered the BioWare Signature Edition
prior to January 12, 2011 you will also receive this bonus content.

Wish I would've known this before I preordered it from Amazon. xD

Or Direct2Drive.

In context it's talking about the Lion of Orlais shield and the Fadeshear sword.  Two items that you can also get from Amazon.com and Direct2Drive under precisely the same conditions.  Though apparently not from Amazon.co.uk.

Yeah, I misread his quote. Sorry, I thought for a moment that he was talking about the demo. So, yeah, I'm glad I preordered DA2 from Amazon, before the Signature Edition deal was over with.

So yeah, can't wait till March 8th, nonetheless, especially since I preordered the Signature Edition and get everything else that's preorder exclusive! =]

In addition, I doubt that a 360 or PS3 demo could be distributed digitally and discreetly the way a PC demo could, which is why there is no mention of said platforms in this very limited sign-up sight not meant for the general public.

Q and I have been pointing that out for 3 hours now. People are basically just refusing to listen to logic at this point...

No, I don't think they kept saying it would be an important date at all. I think that's your imagination talking, to say it was an important event foreshadowed to said level. They haven't hyped it up at all- I never even HEARD about it until very recently, and I've been lurking on the forums since before DA2's announcement.

They HAVEN'T been keeping the insults or the spamming out. The reaction has been WAY out of line, and not justified.

No, they really did keep announcing it. If you really want me to find those links, I will. But it was confirmed by Priestly, then Laidlaw, EA confirmed it to Joystiq (or was it Destructoid?), and Gaider during PAX. Many times. Many, many times.

Did they ever say it was a demo?  Did they ever explicitly identify what it would be at all?

Maybe they just are way more excited about Dragon Age: Legends than we are?

Granted, that's grounds some some disappointment, but it really amounts disliking what you got for Christmas.  In that the date was well known for a long time, you were looking forward to it, but when you opened the box it was a sweater.

What I'd dispute is that they ever promised to buy you anything in particular and then failed to deliver that something in particular. That would make it an issue of broken promises, and not one of different expectations.  Maybe they thought the sweater would look good on you.  You still hate it.  Does it need to be more than that?

PC and Gamestop exclusive? I could live with all the exclusive DLC-items, but this is taking it too far. Hyping yesterday a year in advance for nothing and then pulling a dick move on us like that. I mean wow. How much did Gamestop pay for this? Wouldn't it have been more profitable to release a demo for everyone?

How do you know they knew for a full year this was going to happen?

Lurk harder.

Mike was the last one to say anything that I recall.

Oh, no, not that. :D I was being questioned whether they kept announcing the 02-01 date as important, and they have. We speculated that it would be the DA anime, actually.

I swear I am closer to losing my mind now than I was during the board-wide rage stroke.

I really think people have forgotten how to read.

Just check the OP and we wouldn't have to go over this 100,000 times.

Wait, so people are still complaining about this? I thought it was cleared, and everyone was just grateful that we are actually getting a demo, and that this little debacle hasn't changed the fact that the game is still gonna be amazing.

Guess it'll just be a little longer. But still, I'm still guessing by the morning this will be blown over.

Aww. In all the excitement of the day I actually managed to forget about that completely...
Now I am disappoint. :(

Really? How long ago were each of these? At that point, could it still have been the release date for Dragon Age 2?

I think any hyping done was far more in line for the revealing of say, open invitations to a public beta for a new Dragon Age game. Expecting leaps and bounds of more exiting revelations and vastly larger quantities of new information being unleashed is... well... selfish and childish.

It's like a little girl that kept asking for a pony for her birthday and didn't get it. That's because your parents (Bioware) weren't able to get you a Pony (the original release date of DA 2) because it wasn't economically feasible (the game still needed more time for polish and bug fixing before going gold.) The fact that they still tried to take you to the petting zoo to see a pony (The DA: Legends Beta invitation) just isn't enough for you, is it? They never SAID they would actually buy you a pony and lied (release a demo for DA2 or something else mind-blowing) you just built that up in your mind.

Bah, I'm done. This is just infuriating.

People still can't seem to read the OP and come to the conclusion that there is a demo, gamestop employees are getting a sneak peek on the 11th and it is coming out for everyone else on the 23rd.

I truly don't understand how it could be that hard to grasp.

I've just woken up and taken a quick peek at the OP. So I guess that guy on the Gamespot forum was actually telling the truth, go figure. But is it just for gamespot employees or does everyone else get to play the demo but at a later date? I'm slightly confused about the whole thing.

Laidlaw's was 27 days ago, well after the current DA2 release date was announced. And he specifically said a "few tricks" which is more than one. PAX also occured after the 3.8.11 date was announced.
So to answer the latter question. No.

Bah, I'm done. This is just infuriating.

Perhaps if one approached the topic from a more peaceful angle and had simply asked about why people were upset instead of assuming one knew and subsiquently calling everyone names(which ironically included "childish")... one might not be as infuriated later. ^_^

this thread is moving fast. Just throwing something out there - besides like Best Buy, what other companies in the US are known for selling video games besides Gamestop? I don't have anything other than that around me, so to me, even with Gamestop's practice of selling used games, if they were trying to set it up so that people selling the games would be able to hype them up and get more orders, they'd HAVE to go to Gamestop. Because who goes to Walmart and asks one of the employees about a game? Or to Target? I don't even think I'd ask anyone at Best Buy to be honest. I know there's Gamestops where the employees don't know jack but some of them do. It makes sense to me from that standpoint.

Yeah, seriously. Maybe they should just take the time to read and comprehend the OP, before going "ggsjjBAAAAAW, THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE."

Which also raises the question; are they even reading the OP? Or are they just reading the title and immediately getting the urge to vent their frustration and complaints?

True enough, there was a lot of unnecessary insulting going on which I would agree, although I don't think that's a sign of childishness so much as a sign of anger problems and unneeded venting in this case. :P My previous posts, and actually voicing my opinions there actually did help me get a little more rational, though.

I still think that the Dragon Age: Legends beta reveal was enough to match up with the date. "A few tricks" is a phrase of speech, and doesn't really have to imply more than one announcement though, especially when it wasn't carefully worded but rather used on the fly by someone being interviewed live.

They've been doing it for months. The last time they mentioned it was...what, two months ago? Three? Well after the announcement for DAII's release date came.

Again, this wasn't us asking for something repeatedly and BioWare getting closed lipped. It's like them leaving us a saddle, then some horseshoes, and then suddenly realizing they can't afford a pony and passing off those hints as something only barely related, like going to watch a horse race.

Some are not native English speakers, mind you. So misreading is common.
