Wait, so people are still complaining about this? I thought it was cleared, and everyone was just grateful that we are actually getting a demo, and that this little debacle hasn't changed the fact that the game is still gonna be amazing.

Guess it'll just be a little longer. But still, I'm still guessing by the morning this will be blown over.

People still can't seem to read the OP and come to the conclusion that there is a demo, gamestop employees are getting a sneak peek on the 11th and it is coming out for everyone else on the 23rd.

I truly don't understand how it could be that hard to grasp.

Yeah, seriously. Maybe they should just take the time to read and comprehend the OP, before going "ggsjjBAAAAAW, THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE."

Which also raises the question; are they even reading the OP? Or are they just reading the title and immediately getting the urge to vent their frustration and complaints?

Some are not native English speakers, mind you. So misreading is common.

That's true. But still, a lot of the people raging here are native English speakers. To people who arent, and have misread, that's completely understandable. To people who aren't even reading it, or are reading it and not being able to grasp something so simple, it's not understandable. It's just annoying and pointless to rage, when we know we're getting a demo only 12 simple days after Gamestop gets it.

Since now one answered my question I went and checked the site myself, I would advise that this be put on the OP. At the buttom it says:

This early demo access is being granted to Gamestop employees only. Any form of distribution, recording, posting of any elements of the Dragon Age 2 demo and any of its files is strictly prohibited until February 23, 2011 when the demo is made available to all consumers. Download Instructions: Please enter download code and click the download button to start your download.

So anyone moaning about the demo being only for gamespot employees or customers is wrong, as it obviously says 'consumers' which is anyone who wishes to play the demo.

I still think sensationalized imagery like "NEVER FORGET" "THE CAKE WAS A LIE" and Troll face propaganda like you're sporting is the most frustrating thing about it all at this point. It makes it seem like the end of the world, like the World Trade Center attacks happened all over again or something.

OK, so using my considerable hacker skillz(see:what I've learned from 4chan) I managed to cobble together a working download code. But all it gave me was a rar file with nothing in it except jumbled data that doesn't seem to correlate to anything.

Interesting. I would assume the codes haven't actually been given out yet, and that the event for Gamestop employees hasn't officially begun so you just downloaded a dummy file where the real demo will be when they actually are supposed to be allowed access. Also, that was a kind of illegal thing you did- just so you know ahead of time.

Isn't that because you have to wait till feb 11th.

It already IS in the OP. This has been discussed countless times, but people don't seem to read the OP, and or, can't grasp it, and or, are not native English speakers, and misread it.

It doesn't go live until the 11th.

Exactly what I was thinking. I bet you anything they'll still be doing some last minute bug-fixing/testing before finalizing the demo build, as they don't want to give the retailers that are forming opinions about the game to have a negative experience with their sneak peek. After all, they're going to be the ones answering questions about if the game is worth buying or not come release day.

Don't be hatin' on my spankin' decals, man.

It's a consolidarity thing. You were mad, I was mad, so let's be mad together in a very noninvasive way. It's the quickest way to put aside hard feelings, I think, while not ignoring the thing that made you mad to begin with.

I think you're missing some of the sarcasm intended with the banners... I know I have one just because the days chaos was hilarious.

But then I was only mildly disappointed for a few minutes. Probably because I stopped trusting Bioware back when RtO was pushed back for the third time <_<

They have continuously been telling us that 02-01-2011 would be an important date for DA fans.

You might not understand the anger, but I do. And I think it's justified--so long as we keep the insults and the spamming out.

How do you think I feel? I had that date tattooed on my knee for reference and it was all for nothing.

It's not illegal. There are no laws that say I can't use a program to produce a string of numbers and letters to download a file. You can bet I'll be doing it again on the 11th.

That's called hacking. And you hacked into something that's not available to the public. Of course it is illegal. Breaking an action down to its core semantics does not change what the action is.

True enough, just make sure you don't launch the file you downloaded before the 23rd, unless of course you're a Gamestop employee. That would no doubt be against the terms of service for the downloading, or perhaps the installation file.

Actually, It's called "cracking". Hacking is slang, cracking is correct terminology.

If someone else references me Wikipedia's page on hacking again... :pinched:

It's actually stealing. You took something that you were not given permission to obtain.

It's not stealing if it's free. No profit can be made off of it so it's not stealing.
