Might even be "only" available to Gamestop employees on purpose. A leaked demo could attract more attention and be more tempting than just a demo you can get anywhere.

Very well, I just dislike the melodramatic and vindictive lot who feel Bioware betrayed them, and now seek some sort of a vengeance. But everyone is free to believe what ever they wish.

Of all the games the BioWare is currently working on right now, DA2 seems to be the runt of the litter.

It definitely doesn't seem like it's being given equal treatment as Bioware's other projects, especially given the short development time and little official footage/screenshots.

Or maybe they want to highlight the ways DA2 differs from DAO; as far as the development time goes, how does it differ from them doing pretty much the same thing when going from Baldur's Gate to Baldur's Gate 2? It's not like they have to write a new game engine, create a new toolset, etc.; they already have those things, so they just need to enhance what exists.

I'm with you on this one. Maybe Bioware is just trying to encourage PC sales before venturing into console freebies.
I just don't understand the neurotic and often delusional attitude some fans adopt in thinking that the creators of their product are deliberately trying to scam them.  

You either like/buy the content or you don't. They have no real power over you or your money, they are simply offering a form of entertainment (one which I believe involves passionate artists, writers and developers) which you can decide to buy, or choose not to buy. 

 Do people really need to resort to threats of piracy when they don't agree with Bioware's marketing strategies?

If only all gamers had the fortitude to refrain from purchase in protest at the way the industry is treating it's customer base.

DRM would disapear overnight....piracy levels would remain the same 20% as they have done over the last decade.

I thnk you'll find that it is, the monetary value of any property (including intellecutal) is immaterial at best and aggravating at worst, so let me enlighten you and all the other crying babies with an entitlement complex:
If it doesn't belong to you and if you take it without permission thats theft.
This demo belongs to BioWare and they can give it and not give it to whomever they choose and you can sulk because you'll still buy the full game and all the stupid DLC as well and they know this

I understand why some are angry with this. 
To me this announcement reads like: Look, there is a demo avaiable on February 11, but fans only get it 12 days later. 
Why? I don't know...
