The rage has cooled for the most part, no need to stick around. It's been fun though.

It's the same thing. Product Knowledge = Ability to sell. It's really extremely simple.Saberchic wrote...

Gamestop employees (aka the lowest common denominator)
You people keep moaning about how all gamestop employees are stupid but in the same breath you curse the very mechanism that Bioware is employing to make gamestop employees more knowledgable.
Honestly, there is no reason to be so rude.
just because a demo is released solely to them it will not make them any more knowledgeable than if, say, the demo was released to the general public......just saying

Do you remember the last time you've been to a Gamestop and have that happen to you.

The 2.1.11 announcement had nothing to do with the demo, but with Dragon Age Legends closed beta. Bioware has not commented on the Gamestop demo, so obivously it wasn't part of their 2.1.11 promotion.
Upsettingshorts wrote...
Unless that promotion was to intentionally leak information they never had any intent to confirm. Which would be... weird. For a game company I mean, not for say, a politician.
The demo will be available. You seem way too focused on the 11 days between gamestop's access and ours. It isn't even 2 full weeks.crimzontearz wrote...

No new dev vids, or game trailers, or character reveals. Instead, we get a demo thats only given to Gamestop employees (aka the lowest common denominator) and a shot that a demo will be released on the 23rd, hopefully on all platforms. Im a console gamer, so I hope my PCs directX9 can handle it...lol.

I am still unsure was that Gamestop employer exclusive demo just huge megatrolling with all that "small printed" text in the bottom or was it a total ignorance at loyal and fanatical customers who wait this game much more than some Gamestop employers who have access to all games in the market very easily. In either case it is less for those who need it more and more for those who need it less. As such I can't support the current policy, and telling to customers "it is our game" doesn't change a thing.

ever worked for Gamestop? I did for a year or so.......if someone is pumped for a game he/she will push it regardless. And if they could not care less about the game they just won't....and exclusive demo is not gonna change a thing.

and who will they push it to anyway? People who did not know about it before? The same people who would benefit from a demo being available to them? Thats my problem- if yesterday's Legend announcement was what they had planned from the start, they did a terrible job of at least trying to keep fan expectations in check when it was clear as day fans expected more. And if they couldn't see that fan's had high expectations, then they would seem terribly out of touch and aloof.

They'll push it to people who they think might be interested in it. The employees have pulled up my history and recommended games for me that I hadn't either heard of or tried before. They've also cued up their TV to then show me these games they recommend so that I can get a feel for what they were talking about.

By the way if it was megatrolling I laugh really hard. But if it was ignorance towards customers and fans I will not laugh. I am by the way probably not going to even try the demo. I will delay the experience to enjoy the game completely. It is like sex. Who wants it to end prematurily?

And how many people do you know that plays a demo before buying a game? Seriously?
I know two. That's about it. Most of my friends either go online where it's been reviewed by someone else, or go to Gamestop and when about to buy the game, ask what the person thinks of it. Either that, or they hear about it word of mouth AFTER the game is released.
Just because you post in a small community that does do these things does not make it an accurate, generalized statement. You have to remember, the people who have a hard-on for hating this represent a very SMALL number of Dragon Age players. Most of my friends don't even know this place exists, and most likely won't even know about the whole demo thing before the game is released.
As for my opinion, I rather get more information on in-game content rather than a demo for a platform I don't play on. I've never played a demo before buying a game, I probably won't start now since my pretty little pre-order is sitting in the computer at my local Gamestop. I'll play the game and if it sucks I'll sell it back.

I think complaining that GameStop getting it first is silly. Very, very silly. They are simply getting it earlier--we're not getting it later. If they weren't getting this demo, then you wouldn't be getting it any earlier.
The thing is no one needs a damn demo. Yeah, it'd be great to have one--and we are getting one! So doesn't that work out? You talk about "need", but that's awfully selfish. GameStop employees have access to it first. It's not at our expense, because we're not losing anything.

Since you're familiar with The Wire I'm not afraid to pull this one out for fear it would be misunderstood: I think that the mistake (the demo leak) and the lack of response is an example of institutional inertia. Simply put, EA/Bioware is too big to be as dynamic and nimble in terms of responding to fans as the forum would collectively lead itself to believe.
