The demo announcement banner was obviously a mistake. Any alleged demo was not out "now" when that banner was put in the EA newsletter. So Bioware did not trick us or falsely raise our hopes in that regard.



The 2-1-11 leaflets in every copy of Awakening, however, was not a mistake. It was a deliberate advertisement of something to come...and we all know that they were not planning to announce a beta for a facebook game (that people have been playing and discussing for more than a week) with that leaflet.



Seriously, this is just sad, if this is the only announcement being made today. Even a new character update or blog entry would have been better than this.

Please, that's hardly conclusive. You've never seen anything put out in advertising that proved mistaken or misleading?

That things companies put out as advertisements aren't misleading or miscommunicated? Ok, here's your proof.

Maybe the update to the BSN was so that it could handle all of this hate. To make myself clear, I do not hate Bioware for this. It was most certainly a low blow to not stop our demo speculation and lead us on. And if there is a demo and they are doing, "Look you were so sad, and now you are happy!", that is when I will hate.

Seriously. I wasn't even realistically expecting a demo, but this was just poor form. At least quell the hype before it got out of hand. By letting things spiral out of control, it demonstrated a lack of respect for the dedicated fans.

And I really couldn't care less about a Facebook game.

I actually disagree.  This, I may actually be able to play if I get a key.  A character update or a blog entry, while interesting, would have been even stupider for a big advertisement campaign.  I still think 2-1 was probably just the originally planned release date.
