Epic community event. Unfortunately most of the world is not part of the community so we couldn't get involved with it.

And then Ray Muzyka posted an open letter to the forum promising more events through out to fan the flames of boil on the forum, then everyone said "How nice Ray! Thanks!"

Even if the 2/1/2011 thing was orginally DA2's relase date I'd prefer someone just to stand up and say "yes this is what we orginally planned, sorry but we messed up to make up heres something to occupy yourselfs with until March" yes it would have been annoying, yes it would have been disappointing, but at lest there wouldn't be this level of disappoint and annoyed fans.

On the + side there's a good chance (in my opinion) that were still getting a demo. I'm just really disappointed in the "special announcement" that today brought.

Its hardly a betrayal but yeah they should have shut the speculation down. Just more indication they really don't quite grasp online marketing.

To be fair, it is not exactly intuitive that people would get angry at Bioware for not babysitting them closely enough.

First part yes agree.

Second part is this isn't a matter of it isn't as huge as it's supposed to be, it's worse than nothing. They have been hyping up a day on which nothing would have been better than "Oh yeah the beta has changed."

They haven't been hyping anything. They had a card with a date in the awakening box, and that was it. It's the 35 threads that were created about that date that created the hype, so you have no one to balme but yourselves.

Usually I agree that the fanbase over hypes things, but to try to blame this on us is just being cynical, by placing a flyer inside every awakening box they were trying to hype this date, that is obvious and by trying to deny their intentions it just makes you look silly at best.  Then by letting the speculation rage on they just made it much worse, a simple denial could've avoided this whole mess.  Right now bioware just comes off as arrogant and unprofessional jerks that like to mess with their fanbase and there's really no excuse for them.

Since they still haven't denied or explained the "demo out now" images from the EA servers, I think a demo is very likely.  However, since the images did not list a date, the demo could come after the game is released.

Slim to none, with a higher probablity of none. I'm still betting we get some DA2 info, but all misguided hope I had for a demo is gone.

Me thinks we have a good chance of getting a demo. If not, I won't really be that bothered if we don't.

Chris "Troll" Priestly has just recently lockdown'd a speculation thread over what was happening today and left a link to the dark beta "announcement". My guess is that he hasn't Locked this one yet  either cuz he's busy telling a small child he'll buy him a toy on March 4th (A LIE) or figures that we will get a demo someday, so the demo thread should stay up.

If they had been planning on a demo, today would have been kind of ideal for announcing it. Either way, whether or not a demo is actually in the books doesn't make this thread off topic.

It's also probably doing a pretty good job of restricting the rage to one place.

  I think a Dev needs to pop in and clarify this for every one. If you plan on releasing a Demo just say it's not anytime soon. So people don't get their hopes up for a certain date. Then seriously squash the Idea of you have anything planned for today other than to announce a closed Beta. Some of us signed up for long ago, and most of us still haven't got into.
