Because they want the rage to stay in one place. If they lock this then these forums will be flooded with topics about it.

oh come on, people are still expecting something more? this was a date that a year ago bioware thought they would have something. they didn't, so they used the date to announce something else they had coming up. that's all there is to it

I'm not disappointed for the lack of demo. I find howewer strange that Bioware, when some weeks ago someone asked if there's something planned for Feb 1st, said that they were preparing something. The announcement of a closed beta for DA:L to me isn't a big thing, and it isn't muc DA2 related, except the bonuses. From Gaider's post we can probably think that there is something related to a demo. Not that I care a lot of a demo, but I was expecting some news for DA2.
