That's not true, and several people in this thread have said as much. If they had admitted that the newsletters were an error (rather than silently changing them) and stepped into the speculation thread with a "this isn't happening, the hype-paper was supposed to be the DA2 release date but we were delayed" instead of "this is off-topic," then everyone would be much more understanding.Dave of Canada wrote...

Okay, last time I was here, this thread only had 17 pages, so I went back and read EVERYTHING I missed... And there hasn't been a single explanation yet!
Please, Bioware, I don't care if there's no Demo. Can't you just answer the questions we've been asking since the "Demo Out Now!" banners first appeared?
1) Why were those banners released? Was it a simple misunderstanding between Bioware and EA?
2) Why were those banners so quietly edited? Again, was it to correct a simple misunderstanding?
3) Why was everyone "in the know" so quiet about those mysterious banners? Why couldn't fans get an explanation? Was it because the Devs honestly didn't know what was going on? Or if it's something super-secret, could you at least say, "We can't discuss that right now?"
4) What exactly happened?
PLEASE. All I want is a little clarification. The silence from both Bioware and EA is what has confused me from the start.
And it's what allowed this to snowball out of control until people want to put their fists through the screen.
I just...ugh. I am disappointed. I am disgusted. I want to walk away, but this thread is like watching a trainwreck. I can't tear myself away.

While this is true, it also provides closure, something that we don't have yet. We still have a "Maybe". And not knowing for sure is what is driving people crazy. And will continue to do so, up until the game is out and maybe even past that. They've held on to hope of stranger things for longer than a month.

It wasn't like they were trying to downplay this date either. There were devs that said that some cool things were coming on this date. Then they left this thread open which is like letting a wound get infected.
It's not even the real facebook game, it's a beta of the game!
What the hell is the point of all this? Is this how you should treat your customers? This isn't some joke I can laugh off and say "haha, you know those devs need their fan tears!" No, this is ridiculous. The people in this thread were right to speculate. You printed a pamphlet in Awakening for it, 11 months ago! Yet despite numerous threads about the date, not once did you downplay it.
Businesses shouldn't treat loyal customers like this. I've spent hundreds of dollars buying this company's games. If you couldn't make the date what you wanted, apologize for it, don't leave it to fester for weeks. No one would blame you if you just jumped the gun, but stuff like this just makes people angry and wonder why they are throwing money at a company that treats them like this.
I'm sorry if people think this is an overreaction, but none of this anger and overhype would've happened if Bioware was just honest with their customers.

You mean an announcement about a closed beta game isn't everything you've ever wanted?

Sorry to sound like a draaaaag, but 'closure'? It's not like someone has died. That just seems like a pretty dramatic way of describing the fact that a demo was not released, even though there was never really confirmation that it would be in the first place. It's just a demo.

This was actually a great day for me, I just ordered my brand new pc and have about 2 weeks till it arrives, however this whole demo catastrophe has sorta been a downer. Now I'm just posting here till Bioware responds or this thread gets shut down.
