Regarding the gripes toward BioWare, well, if there is no demo at all, I do find it a bit odd why they wouldn't simply deny it. But if there is a demo, but it just isn't being released today, then maybe they just didn't want to say anything, knowing that no matter how they brought it up it would've been dissected and read into in ways they didn't feel like dealing with. I suppose they could have just said something like, "Regarding the announcement on Tuesday, we can say that it isn't a demo or character creator. That is all." Would people really have felt as let down had someone said that a couple days ago? But meh, I'm no marketer.
Regardless, I don't think it's worth getting upset over. A little disappointed, maybe.

Yeah, and it's already been in closed beta for a while. I can't imagine them going "Oh hey guys lets announce the second iteration of a beta for a facebook game based on Dragon Age on a date we advertise in a slip of paper in Dragon Age: Awakening almost a year beforehand!"Atakuma wrote...
I doubt Legends even existed when this card was made.Brockololly wrote...
I just want to know if the 2/1/2011 being DA Legends was their plan all along? Cause thats just such a mind numbingly banal announcment to keep so cryptic for close to a year with the Awakening card. At least if it was originally DA2's release date I'd be a bit more sympathetic.

HOW DARE THEY SAY NOTHING
If they said "no", you'd have as much people in arms as right now.
While this is true, it also provides closure, something that we don't have yet. We still have a "Maybe". And not knowing for sure is what is driving people crazy. And will continue to do so, up until the game is out and maybe even past that. They've held on to hope of stranger things for longer than a month.
Sorry to sound like a draaaaag, but 'closure'? It's not like someone has died. That just seems like a pretty dramatic way of describing the fact that a demo was not released, even though there was never really confirmation that it would be in the first place. It's just a demo.
Ho-hum
Have you seen the threads on here about people's obsession with characters from these games?
I choose my wording for a reason.

This was depressing. I was so looking forward to this day. Not because I was sure we would get a demo but because I was sure we would get something new and awesome.
Boy, do Bioware know how to let people down by hyping for a year about absolutly nothing.
You mean an announcement about a closed beta game isn't everything you've ever wanted?
I know... I mean, how can we not be overjoyed? The mind - it boggles.

While we would still be dsappointed, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad if someone came on and shot the rumor down yesterday.Gemaphrodite wrote...

People seem to be more mad at Bioware for not saying anything than they are about a demo.

I disagree, Dave. Strongly. It would not have been this intense of a reaction. People would have been disappointed, but only a few angry.

The least we could have gotten was another clip or something. It just seems like such a waste for a beta game. Like Really?

After last year's community event fiasco I have to say I've lost the ability to get really excited or upset over something like this. If the announcement is true but small, that's fine, if there's nothing that's fine too.

Probably so they could deal with all this hate
Or so we could upload our Legends characters: not that they were very customizable in the first place.

There would be no point in making us all mad then saying but wait there's more! What do they expect an apology begging for forgiveness? No, we got what they wanted to give, nothing more, and nothing less.

So true..If they did that with DA2, what should we expect with MS3?yoshibb wrote...
I don't get this at all.
It wasn't like they were trying to downplay this date either. There were devs that said that some cool things were coming on this date. Then they left this thread open which is like letting a wound get infected.
It's not even the real facebook game, it's a beta of the game!
What the hell is the point of all this? Is this how you should treat your customers? This isn't some joke I can laugh off and say "haha, you know those devs need their fan tears!" No, this is ridiculous. The people in this thread were right to speculate. You printed a pamphlet in Awakening for it, 11 months ago! Yet despite numerous threads about the date, not once did you downplay it.
Businesses shouldn't treat loyal customers like this. I've spent hundreds of dollars buying this company's games. If you couldn't make the date what you wanted, apologize for it, don't leave it to fester for weeks. No one would blame you if you just jumped the gun, but stuff like this just makes people angry and wonder why they are throwing money at a company that treats them like this.
I'm sorry if people think this is an overreaction, but none of this anger and overhype would've happened if Bioware was just honest with their customers.
