While this is true, it also provides closure, something that we don't have yet. We still have a "Maybe". And not knowing for sure is what is driving people crazy. And will continue to do so, up until the game is out and maybe even past that. They've held on to hope of stranger things for longer than a month.

Sorry to sound like a draaaaag, but 'closure'? It's not like someone has died. That just seems like a pretty dramatic way of describing the fact that a demo was not released, even though there was never really confirmation that it would be in the first place. It's just a demo.

Exactly.

The same people yelling the loudest right now are the same ones that turned on the hype machine the past couple days about this supposed demo. Nothing but their assumptions and speculations to fuel the machine and now its BioWares fault... No different then this was the original release for DA2 but there was nothing that even hinted at that being true.

More then a few need to stop feeding into their own guess work then blaming others for it.

It sucks too because I very much would of liked a demo.

Just further proves most people will stoop to any level to pitch a fit and throw temper tantrums because they didnt get what they wanted even when there was no guarantee it would of EVER been available in the first place.

Maybe they saw it as "well the game isn't going to be ready by February 1, but we put those cards out, so why not do something for that date?" They did that early Facebook tie-in game, so I imagine they had planned for a second all along. Maybe this wasn't ready on time either, only the beta. They just used the cards to amp up the hype for it since they'd already been printed and shipped. Kinda dirty but not surprising.

No there wouldn't, not nearly to the same extent.

I agree, if they had quelled the first speculation thread that had the released banners, this whole thing would have died out, as it is Bioware still seems to be playing some game by letting this thread continue.

Watch them announce the demo at 11:59 pm tonight...then they would technically still have given us a demo on 2/1/11.

Nah, like the last time they botched an announcement.  Isolate the rage, let it run it's course. When it's blown over and most people have moved on. Slowly re-enter the forums and discover that ultimately internet rage does little / or nothing to actually affect sales and carry on like no-one was ever upset in the first place.

Why did you not do the right thing and tell us early on that there will not be a demo today?

You've commented on rumours before, so what's the difference? You just didn't feel like it this time?

It was the same with the info about the Isaac armor. It took, what, 1 week before they confirmed that the PS3 code would not work on XBox 360?

I guess that they could have a gag-order on thge demo thing and that the Devs can't say anything at all about it. But this is evil, tormenting fans like this. They could have said something. ANYTHING.

I know Chris made this the 'demo' thread, but I honestly wonder if he's spent more than a minute in here and realized that the only thing we want at this point isn't even a demo, it's for him (re: anyone) to SAY SOMETHING.

I'm still absolutely positive that there will be a demo, but as I mentioned, I thought people were jumping their guns and getting hopes up for today.



Can't say I'm surprised that it wasn't today, too far away from release.

BioWare tends not to comment on speculation threads for un-released products.
The banners were taken down almost immediately as they were put up in error.
The demo hype was self fueled by the community even though it was know that the erroneous banner ads were taken down. 

You need to have the decency to admit that BioWare has done nothing wrong with regards to not confirming nor denying self-generated forum hype.
