...

I fail to see how it counts as a rumour? A EA newsletter specifically said "Demo out now".

Was the EA newsletter genuine?

Yes, it was.  In 3 languages.

See the OP

Alternatively yes, but an obvious screwup.

I have a couple of questions for Bioware concerning those banners, so I made a seperate thread for them.

The questions:

1) Why were those "Demo Out Now!" banners released? Was it a simple misunderstanding between Bioware and EA?

2)
Why were those banners so quietly edited fifteen hours later? Again,
was it to correct a simple misunderstanding? Why no announcement when
this happened?

3)Why was everyone "in the know" so quiet about those mysterious
banners? Why couldn't fans get an explanation? Was it because the Devs
honestly didn't know what was going on? Or if it's something
super-secret, could you at least say, "We can't discuss that right now?"

4) What exactly happened?

Aaaaaaaand it's gone. Well, that was quick.

That's alright... I suspected it would happen... I'm new here, so I hope I didn't upset Mr. Gaider...? Or is doing so some sort of rite of passage? :?

What do I do now? Just keep posting my questions on this thread? Will they ban me for spam if I do so?

Probably. Consider for a moment that EA is the same company that, in response to my finally downloading and playing the Dead Space 2 demo, sent me an e-mail begging me to preorder it....:?

Yesterday.<_<

A week after the game came out. :pinched:

As to a possible demo, I would like one at some point but would rather gain a Character Creator.

I would only play through a demo once, a CC gives me hours of entertainment.

Eh, why not. I'm sure someone else could do it much better if they were so inclined, but I'm terribly lazy.

Yes it was, came straight from EA servers before the infamous photoshop removed the demo part.

Short answer: because the Bioware people behave like toddlers "wasn't me, wasn't me!" No corporate backbone.

Again, the banner means there is a demo, but they are not releasing it today. It would not have been made, uploaded, and posted if it was not to be used in the future.

My theory, but I'm still not playing it when it is released.

Yes, several longtime posters on here said that they got the newsletter and people found the image saying "Demo out now" somewhere on the EA website.

They are also the same people who put ME3 up for preorder before it's official announcement.

chris priestly has made this the demo thread. congrats thread.

http://social.biowar...index/5900917/2

its official now

OK the official line is they don't comment on rumours, thats why they didn't deny it, but that strikes me as a stupid where there is some evidence that it was more than just a rumour.

I think it's some kind of oficial. They said, that they don't commend on rumours. If they haven't planning for a demo, Chris could say like this "Stop people with threads, we don't have a demo end of the line" Something like that. But they didn't commend about the demo topic. So i think ( logical ways) that they have a demo.

Or they just word it so to not confirm or deny anything. It's called 'no comment'.

Hey, at least we're all still part of the community....

..unless you don't have a beta key...

Well this is awkward.

Actually, that's a pretty cool picture. (image was removed, too bad, it was pretty cool and I'd say *did* have something to convey about this thread)

And I agree, this was fan driven hype, you can't blame Bioware for getting your hopes up. It would have been nice if they'd come in and said "don't get your hopes up", but the fans started this life - like so many others - so they only have themselves to blame.

That said, I find it hard to buy that the Closed Beta was the announcement slotted for release today - whatever else they had planned, this is too underwhelming to be the thing they've maintained hype over for the last several months. (whether they decided to put off something else in the wake of this false demo fiasco is another matter ... I could see where they'd be worried anything they released would be ground into dirt after that ... better to kill this thing with disappointment, then give us something to cheer us up, instead.)

Perhaps the name of the thread could be changed to reflect the outrage/dissapointment over a lackluster 2/1/11 as well?
