In all of the Bioware games I have played, KOTOR, Mass Effect, Dragon Age there is no option for your character to break down and cry in. To show how bad it is that your family has been murdered/ galaxy is about to be destroyed, friend/ someone you loved has died and it was your fault/ decision.

In Mass Effect 2 Bioware even created a custom crying animation to be used for some Npcs (Ferros contract Asari girl) But is it Shephard ever doing the crying? No says Bioware, "Shephard is a beefy steroid popping space marine brick with no emotion who only puts there hand over his/her mouth to ponder over deaths of all squad after suicide mission. No when Shephard is fighting a Thresher Maw even though his/her entire squad got murdered and killed with Sheploo the only survivor he/she casually fights one on the ground and in the Mako without even commenting on it.

I wonder if Shep used the Fallout Cannibal perk to survive that.

When I begin my adventures in Dragon Age 2 as Lady Hawke Mage I want the option to cry when my very own sister dies right in front of me!

Because this is Dragon Age here people, the "Middle Ages" I guess. Where there are no performance enhancing cybernetics/drugs bringing people back from the dead after becoming ground beef from plummeting from space into a planet. There is only Magic and people who want to oppress or control it for evil or good.

Some examples where crying is appropriate:

1. In Mass Effect, it's been several years since what happened. How do you know that Shepard doesn't cry in his/her quarters offscreen?

2. I'm pretty sure that at the very least, Hawke will make a sad face, like when Cousland finds his/her sister-in-law and nephew dead.

Ideally, every "break down and sob" choice ends with the death of yourself, or another valued friend, because you obviously aren't leadership material.

However, looking back, mourning the dead and showing some emotion once everything has died down would be great.

Crying is for women. There's only one acceptable exception to the rule where it is alright for a man to cry, and that is if they are kicked in the balls. :(

I do hope that the "Crying is for women" comment is a bad joke.

Indeedly do, my thoughts exactly.  The leader has to appear unshakeable if his crew has any chance of getting morale enough to doing what needs to be done.  Crying is for sissies anyway.

You can't have a tearful PC unless he's looking dreamily at a waving American flag. It's a known fact

It would be awkward to say the least. Still, I see where you're coming from, I've thought that it might be interesting that instead of the up, (good), center (neutral), down (bad) in mass effect there would be the same thing but with happy, emotionally dead, and sad replacing them.

I don't know, crying tends to be a prety involuntary action. Meaning they would either have to force your character to do it, which some people wouldn't want....ooooor they'd have to give a speech option [cry]"noooooooo! I loved him!" which seems very..weird. I'd love the option to cry too, but honestly there'd be no way to do it that didn't steamroll the player, or seem unnatural.

I must be one helluva sissy then - I cried quite a few times in my first two or three (four or even five, six, seven) Origins playthroughs....

110% softie. Where's the Kleenex?

However, in Awakening, not a single tear...hmmm

Suddenly my Spirit/Battle/Healer/Blood mage seems way less cool.

Why? This is a pretty reasonable request.
