In all of the Bioware games I have played, KOTOR, Mass Effect, Dragon Age there is no option for your character to break down and cry in. To show how bad it is that your family has been murdered/ galaxy is about to be destroyed, friend/ someone you loved has died and it was your fault/ decision.

In Mass Effect 2 Bioware even created a custom crying animation to be used for some Npcs (Ferros contract Asari girl) But is it Shephard ever doing the crying? No says Bioware, "Shephard is a beefy steroid popping space marine brick with no emotion who only puts there hand over his/her mouth to ponder over deaths of all squad after suicide mission. No when Shephard is fighting a Thresher Maw even though his/her entire squad got murdered and killed with Sheploo the only survivor he/she casually fights one on the ground and in the Mako without even commenting on it.

I wonder if Shep used the Fallout Cannibal perk to survive that.

When I begin my adventures in Dragon Age 2 as Lady Hawke Mage I want the option to cry when my very own sister dies right in front of me!

Because this is Dragon Age here people, the "Middle Ages" I guess. Where there are no performance enhancing cybernetics/drugs bringing people back from the dead after becoming ground beef from plummeting from space into a planet. There is only Magic and people who want to oppress or control it for evil or good.

Some examples where crying is appropriate:

Lots of fun discussion. I figured I'd post one more thing about this thread:

You know Sten totally did this at US Warden's funeral.

You're right.

Sten loved cookies and kittens and flowers.

We do try to avoid crying for several reasons - one of which is, honestly, it's hard to make tears that look half-decent when you have the ability to build a custom face. Are there moments in DA2 where it might be appropriate? Certainly, but generally speaking, we try to convey the tone with FaceFX, camera distances, etc. On that note, though, getting tears that look good is pretty high on my own personal wishlist, but it's difficult to use when you have custom faces.

Could do a scene I suppose where Hawke is leaning over a fallen comrade/loved one and weeping as the camera looks at them from above and slowly zooms out! No tears necessary for something like that. :P

Edit: Then you could add the usual rainstorm and thundering for the ambience... Rofl.

With Silent Lucidity by Queensryche playing in the background. I like this idea.

No, seriously, I do. I long for us to do an IP where we can use all sorts of classic rock for the soundtrack.

And I've contributed to bringing this off-topic.
