No matter what you people might say about Naruto. Zabuza was a bad ass...and he cries. (skip to 7:30 if you care. And Part 3 makes me cry like a newborn baby.)

Manly heros cry. After they cut their own arm off in a desperate attempt to stop their soul-mate from being raped and still fail. :'(

What is this from? Posted Image

Emotion is induced due to a loved one dieing.. amazing.. She must be a wuss..

Aeryn Sun is the most emotionally stunted, dead inside, hard as nails soldier I've ever seen on TV. So many episodes where she just shuts herself off like a machine. That's not an insult, just an observation. If she can cry, anyone can cry.

I wouldnt really want a 'cry option' but would like some dialogue that shows how deeply scarred Hawke can be from events that transpired.

One thing that bothers me about Shep is s/he's just like "Yea, it was sad."

I want to become the champion of Kirkwall that hates himself for all the things he had to do, but knows it was because he had to.

I vote that crying be an option in some rare, emotionally appropriate scene once Bioware believes they have the technology to do it right. I'm surprised nobody used this analogy already, but you'll note that they allow same-sex romance options in some of their games. Some people don't like them and avoid those options and that's fine. And some people are quite happy to have those options included. Bioware has a long history of doing controversial things in a mostly tasteful and optional manner. I'm sure when they eventually cross this bridge they won't make your particular Rambo Hawke a crybaby against your will ;)

I'm glad to see so many fans liking the idea of Optional tears. I think it would be awesome and hearing John Epler wanting realistic tears is great.

Read the Manga, it's better.

If I were Guts, I would have killed Casca (while giving her a nice pleasant experience like viewing a sunrise right before I did the deed) after all the bad stuff happened, then spent all of my time training and plotting for the sole purpose of capturing, torturing and killing Griffith for his crimes.

If I had the option to cry, I would use it constantly for comedic reasons.

Bethany: Hey. Hawke. Beautiful armor. Did you just go buy the ware-

Hawke: *cries*

Bethany: ....

Varric: Hawke, I need you to lend me a ten. Not much, just enough to buy so-

Hawke: *cries*

Varric: mmmm...

Fenris: Hello. My name is Fenris and I am running from Tevinter

Hawke: *cries*

Fenris: ... Does she do this all the time?

Isabela: Its a common reaction.

Fenris: Ah.

I must admit, had I done anything that stupid I might cry about it as well.

I know - clearly he should've reasoned with the 100 tonne demon that had latched itself onto his forearm...

I wouldn't mind crying during really emotional scenes, whether its Hawke or one of their companions. I'd probably just go "awwwwwwwww....."

I do hope that the "Crying is for women" comment is a bad joke.

Oh of course not.  Because all women are weak and we need men to be the strong person ... yeah whatever.  Tell that to my mother who went through hell for 6 years of cancer.

Anyway, this isn't the age of 200 yeas ago where showing emotion, male or female, was acceptable.  Even listening to my father talk about when he was younger and had a problem, he was expected to work through it himself and not ask for help.  No wonder men now a days are raging psychos with pent up emotions.

We'll just have to stick with fan fiction if we expect any Hawke to even act human.

I wanted to add, tears come from more than sadness .. they come from frustration and anger. You can't tell me you've never watched a movie where the male leading character gets so pissed off, their eyes mist over as they rip that other person limb from limb?  Or when they try desperately to save someone only to be thwarted because they are too late?

I got really emotional when Aeris died in Final Fantasy 7. Enough that it actually pissed me off. That was the first game to ever make me react in an emotional way, which is why I remember it so fondly. It had an effect on me no other game had to that point, and no game has had since.

I dont think I need the option to cry. That just sounds weird to me. I would like deeper personal stories that elicit an emotional response from me though.

We do try to avoid crying for several reasons - one of which is, honestly, it's hard to make tears that look half-decent when you have the ability to build a custom face. Are there moments in DA2 where it might be appropriate? Certainly, but generally speaking, we try to convey the tone with FaceFX, camera distances, etc. On that note, though, getting tears that look good is pretty high on my own personal wishlist, but it's difficult to use when you have custom faces.

So don't show the tears ON THE FACE.  Show him/her holding a piece of paper and a few drops of water falling on it or something.  Or have him/her pass his/her hands over (screw it) his face, and then show tears on the palms of the hands.

YOU CAN DO EEET.

I would like this option to. I want my Shepard to be able to give a more emotional heartfelt response whether it be crying or it be in words to being dead for two years, being dumped by Kaiden/Ashley, or friends dieing during the suicide mission. I dont want my Shepard to be an emotionally constipated robot for the final chapter in the epic Mass Effect series. Good job for creating this thread.

Why is a topic about crying allowed but I can't ask about Hawke picking his nose?

If not tears...a sad face...or a sad dialogue option. Instead of good Ash/ bad Ash options alone in the conversation... make it good Ash/ bad Ash/ angry Ash/ sad Ash in the dialogue trees... (shop smart shop S-Mart)
