Aeryn Sun is the most emotionally stunted, dead inside, hard as nails soldier I've ever seen on TV. So many episodes where she just shuts herself off like a machine. That's not an insult, just an observation. If she can cry, anyone can cry.Revan312 wrote...

Emotion is induced due to a loved one dieing.. amazing.. She must be a wuss..

One thing that bothers me about Shep is s/he's just like "Yea, it was sad."
I want to become the champion of Kirkwall that hates himself for all the things he had to do, but knows it was because he had to.

If I were Guts, I would have killed Casca (while giving her a nice pleasant experience like viewing a sunrise right before I did the deed) after all the bad stuff happened, then spent all of my time training and plotting for the sole purpose of capturing, torturing and killing Griffith for his crimes.

Bethany: Hey. Hawke. Beautiful armor. Did you just go buy the ware-
Hawke: *cries*
Bethany: ....
Varric: Hawke, I need you to lend me a ten. Not much, just enough to buy so-
Hawke: *cries*
Varric: mmmm...
Fenris: Hello. My name is Fenris and I am running from Tevinter
Hawke: *cries*
Fenris: ... Does she do this all the time?
Isabela: Its a common reaction.
Fenris: Ah.

I must admit, had I done anything that stupid I might cry about it as well.
I know - clearly he should've reasoned with the 100 tonne demon that had latched itself onto his forearm...

I do hope that the "Crying is for women" comment is a bad joke.
Oh of course not. Because all women are weak and we need men to be the strong person ... yeah whatever. Tell that to my mother who went through hell for 6 years of cancer.
Anyway, this isn't the age of 200 yeas ago where showing emotion, male or female, was acceptable. Even listening to my father talk about when he was younger and had a problem, he was expected to work through it himself and not ask for help. No wonder men now a days are raging psychos with pent up emotions.
We'll just have to stick with fan fiction if we expect any Hawke to even act human.
I wanted to add, tears come from more than sadness .. they come from frustration and anger. You can't tell me you've never watched a movie where the male leading character gets so pissed off, their eyes mist over as they rip that other person limb from limb? Or when they try desperately to save someone only to be thwarted because they are too late?

I dont think I need the option to cry. That just sounds weird to me. I would like deeper personal stories that elicit an emotional response from me though.

We do try to avoid crying for several reasons - one of which is, honestly, it's hard to make tears that look half-decent when you have the ability to build a custom face. Are there moments in DA2 where it might be appropriate? Certainly, but generally speaking, we try to convey the tone with FaceFX, camera distances, etc. On that note, though, getting tears that look good is pretty high on my own personal wishlist, but it's difficult to use when you have custom faces.
So don't show the tears ON THE FACE. Show him/her holding a piece of paper and a few drops of water falling on it or something. Or have him/her pass his/her hands over (screw it) his face, and then show tears on the palms of the hands.
YOU CAN DO EEET.
