My initial response was rather traditional. Ooooo.... SHINY!
Took it along on Horizon and wiped the floor with the Praetorian. Praetorian? What Praetorian?

It's reasonable considering the amount of damage it does.Hopefully they have a weapon similar or more destructive in ME3.Cru Hunter wrote...
The annoying part is how long it takes to charge itself.

That'd be understandable but it's practically useless in Insanity, as if you're in cover, you're usually dead before you can even fire the thing. Not to mention, the damage isn't all too significant against the tougher bosses like Praetorians or Mechs. (Spoiler) From the times I've used it, it's main use is to destroy the Reaper core in one hit.Black-Xero wrote...

so the mushroom cloud was hanging in the back for the rest of the fight. Those Collectors do need a better ventilation system

Yep, I get the feeling a good percentage of people used it a little too close! I totally underestimated the size of that mushroom cloud!
I think this comic sums up my first experience really well.
Ah the memories.

Samara recruitment mission's boss (Wasea I think): dies with all her squad.
Garm (shot when he is climbing the ladder): dies with all his squad (first time it kill even myself).
Two scions in the last part of Horizon: both dies (no husks for that part).
Scion in the biotic part field on SM: dies with a lot of husks
Tela Vasir: I shot and "WTF JUST HALF OF HER BARRIER", reload the last save and didn't waste ammo on her.

First time I shot a YMIRs head off and was unaware of what that would cause on the other hand...
*BLAM* 'Yeah! Suck it!'
BEEP BEEP BEEP
'Huh?' BOOOOOM!
'HOLY ****! RUN AWAY!'

The Cain never really wowed me in terms of its practical usefulness. I only ever use the Arc Projector anymore.
At best, you got two shots with the Cain on any gven mission.
The Arc Projector has no less than a dozen shots on most missions depending on how much heavy weapon ammo you have thus making it devastating and useful on multiple occasions vs once or twiceat best with the Cain. I estimate the Arc Projector is my heavy weapon of choice on 9 out of 10 missions.

I just carry the Blackstorm with me everywhere cause it looks cool and matches my armor.
I only ever use it a few times. Kasumi's loyalty(to make a pathway), The Geth Colossus(sometimes) and on LoTSB on all six waves of incoming enemies on platforms after the landing at Azure.
I think there needs to be a few more "mandatory" places to use Heavy Weapons.
Like Kasumi's loyalty mission to open up the path. Places like that where you NEED one. And at each place there's hidden Heavy Weapon ammo in a crate, hidden area, or behind something, in case you ran out.
This way people would use Heavy Weapons more rather than just a couple of times for the cool factor.

Oor, on Kasumi´s loyalty mission... you can just use the cannon placed right in front of the wall, to open a path =PLPPrince wrote...
I don't use Heavy Weapons much. There's no real need for them.

If I implied that that particular place needed a heavy weapon and nothing else, sorry for the confusion.

And given how, when you just want to wipe a floor with enemies, you rarely actually hit said mood, you could just outright blast them away with the Cain anyway and you'll never have real ammo problems. I think the other HW are there to substitute for normal weapon usage in terms of effect on the battlefield, so you don't need them actually, except if you just want to be some faster through the level. Just my take on it.

Where in Kasumi's loyalty mission do we need a heavy weapon to open a path? I've played her mission many times already and never need a heavy weapon.
