Is it necessary to keep a dedicated Rogue slot for lockpick?
Which places are only accessible once to be sure to bring the rogue (i.e. Warden's Keep DLC)?
Lockpicking necessary?

You can get through the entire game without ever picking a lock. You just will not get the l33+ 13vvtz like spirit shards, fire bolts and arrows of filth.

You mentioned Warden's Keep, but the few locked chests there only contain vendor trash, nothing plot-related.
If you never picked any locks, you'd only miss out on the minor sidequest "Correspondence Interruptus," since some of the letters are in locked chests (lvl 30). However, none of the chests are in locations to which you cannot return, so you don't need to actually have the rogue in your party on the first pass through.
Aside from that one minor sidequest, really, lockpick is only useful for collecting vendor trash and getting the xp from picking locks and disarming traps.
If, like me, it causes you physical pain to leave a locked chest behind you, your best bet is to play a rogue yourself!

I didn't know about the Correspondence Interruptus sidequest, but there were 2 things really worth lockpicking:
1. In Haven, the shop to get Boots for Zevran
2. In the Elven Alienage, the haunted orphanage to get a locket for the crazy lady
In both cases, you could return there with a Rogue party member at any time, thus it is not a priority. IMHO, it's easier to clear an area of enemies with your most powerful party, then re-visit it with Leliana with her lockpick skill maxed (until the late game when Leliana get's Shattering Shot.

You'll want a dedicated rogue regardless, so might as well have them lockpicking. Even if setting off every trap in the game wont kill/maim/annoy you, you'll just be losing out on a ton of free experience for lockpicking & disarming.

Necessary, no. But most will agree highly recommended. In locked chests you'll find some good items and some trash, ALL of which can be sold. Over time the locked chests add up to a lot of money and experience points. And don't forget about locked doors.

And one more thing I forgot, the skill also applies to trap detection and disarmament.

1. In Haven, the shop to get Boots for Zevran
Actually, if you leave it then and return after the inhabitants of Haven go hostile (and the shopkeeper disappears), the chest will be unlocked.

If you wish to use cheats or exploits, you can simply use the console on a PC to add any amount of xp you desire. Money too. And start any side quests you wish to see. Use the toolset and you can give Alistair the pretty, pretty dress he wants.

Console, as in Xbox 360 [points to sig]. The PC assumption on this board still amazes me, hahaha.

Its not neccessary to have a lockpicker but considering that xp is limited in this game, its probably not a good idea to turn it down.

I've done parts of the game without a rogue. Ehh you get used to not picking chests after a while. I can't imagine the XP being that big a deal frankly.

I keep a dedicated rogue around more for trap detection and MOB pulling than I do for chests.
Lockpicking earns Extra XP and every little bit helps.
