Let me start of by saying that I am a Soldier and Vanguard player , since ME1, with the Soldier being my 1st choice , I have had ME2 for 360 since the 1st day it dropped and had no interest in playing any other classes but the 2 previously stated , now mind you I have had upto 30 or more saves from ME 1&2 with only Sol & Van saves , I have since narrowed both down to 6 saves from each game , trying to create the perfect face is a game within its self , but again no other saves but Sol & Van .
Until , Jan.28 , 2011 I was checking the different Mass Effect sites for news and checking out Mass effectfaces site and decided to make a tweaked of version of a Shep face that I caught on the site which I thought was cool , when it came to choosing a class , instead of soldier I picked Infiltrator and began to play , now I frequent this site all the time and read how ppl think the Infiltrator is so great, my thought was no way , you see I play my soldier hard I run right up on enemies with AR with a rifle bunt to the face a blast away , it is so much fun , vanguard I play the same way , there is no way I could find enjoyment in an Infiltrator , friends I am here to say I was dead wrong cloaking is the s**t , it was so fun, damn now I can't decide if I should be a shotgun infilitrator or widow when I reach the collector ship.
Soldier is still my #1 but now My # 2 spot might be Infiltrator , maybe .

Widow works best on a Soldier. Give the shotgun Infiltrator a try, especially if you have the GPS.

Sounds like you like to get up close and personal, so I'm thinking cloak + surprise claymore in the face would suit you. On the other hand maybe sniping from afar could be a pleasant change. I love the sniper.

Yeah I was thinking Claymore , since I never used it with my Vanguard or Soldier either , I'm not big on sniping , although I do use it just don't depend on it , I like 2 play aggressive and so far the cloak allows for this, and thanks for the advice

CQC infiltrator is a perfectly legitimate way to play. I dunno what you're apologizing about.

Keep in mind you'll need to mod if you want your infiltrator to use a Claymore, otherwise the Eviscerator will give you the best single shot damage.

I was basically apologizing for being a non believer so many times I would hear that it so cool to play as an Infiltrator and I could not point out why, but now I see why it is a strong and fun class

The GPS is great for the Infiltrator.  Start charging the shot and then activate Cloak.  You can release the shot without it ending your Cloak and then fire another one at your discretion.

Santanna just how you didn't believe in the infiltrator I didn't believe in the Widow. I picked it up once and immediatly reloaded my game and chose ar because i only holds 1 round. I went through a whole playthrough and a new game+ before I decided to throw my lot in with the rest and I have never looked back. I have a shotgun toting inf now as well but it's definitely a different experience. Both are enjoyable but i suggest test the waters before you make up your mind.

While I love playing infiltrators CQC style, I still go with the Widow personally. The Tempest is almost as effective as a shotgun in close quarters on a Vanguard, and may very well edge it out on an Infiltrators, since you keep the cloak damage bonus until the visual fades as far as I know(someone correct me if I'm wrong here).

I disagree with whoever says the Widow is better on a Soldier. Widow + Cloak + landing a quick and precise headshot = satisfying as hell.

But of course, the trick is to consistently get headshots (which is really not that hard in ME2, IMO) so you don't end up wasting the ammo as it is very scarce for Sniper Rifles.

I dont know snakeeater I tried the widow soldier and even if you don't have the matlock you are beastly. With the Mattlock you have 2 go to pinpoint weapons throw in a scimitar and you almost have all the advantages of a sniper rifles trained vanguard and widow toting infiltrator. It's nuckin futs man

What is worse than taking a Widow Round to the head from somewhere you didn't see?
Taking a Widow Round into your stomach from pointblank and be left to die whilst that sucker of an assassin already went after your dearest friend Image IPB

I've done the Widow / Mattlock with soldier builds before , I haven't reach the collector ship yet to choose shotgun or widow , the Infiltrator is already a beast to contend with I'm breeze thur most missions so far , I'm leaning toward shotgun/viper thought but could change my mind when I get to that point.

I thought the soldier was the strongest but Infiltrator is right up there , I tend to snipe to clear out large numbers or reduce shields , then cloak, sneak and kill by elbow to the fast to throw them off balance then smg or hvy pistol to fin , and incinerate is a beast I haven't even evolved it yet and it takes Krogens out with no problem add in GSB for emergency and you know the rest . . .

Don't take Geth Shield Boost for the Infiltrator -- it has a huge cooldown. You should be using Tactical Cloak to get out of emergency situations.

I'd suggest Warp Ammo but if you're planning on taking the AR training, then forget about it. Mattock will tear apart armored enemies regardless.

Maybe I will change that then , I only used it once and have not put any points into it trying to max out cloak and operative first then incinerate .

I think Warp Ammo is the best option for an Infiltrator since it in combination with Disruptor ammo gives you an ammo type for any situation.

Defensive powers like Geth Shield boost are a waste on an Infiltrator (or a Sentinel) since you already have a "save my ass button" power in the form of tactical cloak.

I'd also advise against taking an Assault Rifle since the Locust SMG is a better weapon than any assault rifle unless you have access to the Soldier's Adrenaline Rush power.

If you want to focus on sniping, take the Widow its very badass and fun to use.

If you want to get in close with your cloak take a shotgun and roll with the Eviscerator which will give you the best single shot damage of anything except for a Claymore or a charged Geth Pulse Shotty.

NOTE: Since you can charge the Geth Pulse Shotty and release the charged shot without disabling your tactical cloak it is actually the best shotty for an Infiltrator; but personally it kind of feels like cheating to me considering that your enemies should really be able to see the glow coming off the weapon. If you're cool with it though, then there's no denying that its damned effective.

claymore isn't an option. so go with evi. warp ammo is a good ammo power but if you want to RP and not have a biotic infiltrator go with shield boost or enegy drain.

AP ammo is good with the widow too since he boss type enemies rely on armor moslty. this makes the widow stronger than the heavy weapons againts scions.

I'm going to have 2 decide which shotty to use I kno the geth shot gun is a beast of a weapon

Which do you think is better warp ammo or ap ammo , I'm trying to decide which puts out more damage or which one is more practical for a Infiltrator

Go with heavy warp ammo. The added versatility against enemies with barriers is more useful than the extra damage against armor. Plus as an Infiltrator you already have Incinerate which is awesome against armor and surprisingly effective against shields; but relatively weak against barriers.
