Miranda and Garrus.

I have to try Garrus and Zaeed one of these days or Garrus and Tali.

I concur with what seems to be the majority - Miranda and Thane are my suicide run go to guys... warp is too useful to pass up at this point.

I always send Mordin back to the ship as it supposed to be the best way to keep him safe (although I always have everyone's loyalty anyway) and his stats adversely affect the defence score of the hold the line team. I make sure that high defence characters like Zaeed and Grunt are on the defence team.

Miranda and Garrus.

Seeing Miranda stick it to TIM is just too awesome to pass up. And Garrus is from Shepard's first team; he's my homedawg and a good leader. He deserves a chance to whoop some ass.

Samara goes back with the crew. If anyone will keep them safe it's a justicar (as long as she's following my orders, anyways).

I always put Legion through the vents.

Garrus leads the fire teams although I sometimes take him to the final fight (always bad news for Jack). I figure that Garrus needs the experience of successfully leading a team to help prove to himself that what happened on Omega wasn't his fault. Plus, he's the one I trust most to have my back and hold the line to cover it.

I always send Jacob back with the crew. I'd send Miranda if they'd let me.

I always use Samara to hold the bubble. I figure that I'd rather trust the 600+-year-old Asari who is rock-solid stable mentally than the mentally unstable teenager to keep a life support bubble intact.

When it comes to the final fight, I'm really not addicted to taking any particular set with me. I've run with Garrus, Grunt, Tali, Miranda, Thane, Zaeed and Samara. It really kind of depends on what I figure I'll need to fill in the holes.

Jack and Mordin more often than not. Mordin hits the flying ones before they land and Jack takes care of the husk and knocks the collectors off the flying pedestals before they land. Sometimes I take Tali and Garrus, because they are Tali and Garrus. I've tried other combinations that work ok, but they are my first choice. Usually Samara or Miranda for the bubble.

Garrus is almost always the team leader but depending on the game, Grunt and Zaeed also worked out fine. Tali or Legion go through the tubes and no one in particular for taking the crew back.

I've used a lot of different squads dependent on both class and if I intend to get people killed. I loved my last run as adept with tungsten ammo and took grunt with squad incendiary ammo and miranda for warp and weapon damage bonus. I've never had such an easy time with harbinger - singularity to halt movement, double warp to strip the barrier and a round of amped up locust ammo and he was done. Wasn't even bothering to try and kill off other collectors to minimise the number of times he spawned I just let him spawn and gave it to him good each time

Thane and Legion. I love Snipers, and Thane does have that juicy 50% damage bonus. Legion has the Widow. Now here's the real kicker. During the last boss fight you can position your squad at the edge of the farthest forward right hand platform and those snipers will shoot the boss. Legion does ungodly damage to that thing. Oh I also just like Legion and Thane in general.

(RPG reasoning in parenthesis)

Specialist Technician - Legion (even if the vents get hot he doesn't feel it so less likely to suffer until I hit the next terminal)

Fireteam Leader 1 - Garrus (I trust Miranda and Jacob to an extent, but not like I trust Garrus. He and I think alike; get the job done, no casualties.)

Biotic Specialist - Samara (Has a few hundred years of training on Jack, and is less mentally unstable... also less likely to cut and run.)

Fireteam Leader 2 - Garrus again (Same reasoning as before)

Escort - Mordin (BECAUSE OTHERWISE HE WILL DIE!!! If it weren't for that I'd send grunt, he'd be the most suitable to defend civilians.)

When it comes time for the final battle; Garrus, being the pinnacle of Bro-dawgery, comes with me on the final attack. I also bring Tali because she along with Garrus are the only two I can really trust and who I have experience fighting alongside... plus Tali's combat drone is extremely useful as an enemy distraction on Insanity when you need to buy yourself a few seconds from the onslaught of husks and collectors since it always likes to go in close.

Depends on my class and playthrough. I usually alternate, although Miranda is the most consistent choice. Coincidently, despite only one of my Shepard's being weary of her motivations. She has never once been chosen to lead either Fire Team even when I spam through the SM quickly. It is not even intentional sometimes. I either want her in my party or pick Garrus on habit.

Keep in mind if you take both to fight Reaperminator. Someone will die at Hold the Line. That is Garrus and Zaeed.

You must have a value of 2.0 or greater for Hold the Line. Any combination which does not include two of Grunt, Garrus and Zaeed will fall short, and therefore kill someone. The exceptions would require either you not recruiting certain squad mates or allowing them to die prior to HtL.

For my Vanguard, it's really easy. Miranda and Thane.

For my Engie, depends if I want biotics support (Jack and Thane) or just techies (Mordin and Legion)

I leave the 3 heavy hitters to hold the line. Nobody dies.

Jacob for everything, 'cause you can't count on women in times of duress. Even for the barrier.

Garrus and Zaeed make the fight so damn easy, though. Popping Husks off the sides of passages with Concussive Shot was a... blast. Oh my god did I just really type that

Took them on my first playthrough. And since Mordin was the crew escort... urm. Tali was Collector chow.

Honestly I use Samara instead of Jack because I find Jack's dialog on that segment grating and OoC. She just doesn't sound like Jack.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Her calling Shepard "Commander" just doesn't feel right. Instead of "Let's go Commander." it should have been "What the hell is taking you so long?" or something along those lines.

For all the people who send Mordin back...I thought as long as you leave enough raw firepower behind it didn't matter who all was also holding the line. Unless you load up 2 of Grunt, Zaaed and Garrus shouldn't all your people be fine? I've always had everyone survive even leaving Mordin on the line.

My go-to squad is Thane and Samara, I just find them darned useful. If I'm going up against synthetics, I take Garrus and Kasumi. In the Suicide Mission, I tend to mix it up, depending on who I'm getting killed. If I want people to survive, I usually send Garrus as first fire team leader, and send Tali through the vents, Samara to hold the barrier, Miranda as second fire team leader, and Mordin or Tali as crew escort. I tend to take "squishy" characters like Mordin and Thane to the final boss, to increase the "hold the line" score. Naturally, if I'm killing specific characters, I do a fair bit of juggling. It's an art form to get the right selection of characters killed, and I have to do my homework beforehand. Usually there's a very specific group of characters that end up being selected for each of the different tasks.

Thane and Legion for the sniper lulz. Nothing like hearing "Go now to the sea" and "TARGET ELIMINATED" and getting to focus on the boss.

My choices were...

Against the Oculus: Legion and Grunt. Their weapons (Claymore and Widow), can do the most damage to the big eye.

On to the base itself.

Tech Specialist: Tali, Legion or Kasumi are all good choices of course. But I pick Tali for my Vanguard Shep usually and either Kasumi or Legion for my Soldier Shep.

Second Fire Team Leader: Garrus, always Garrus. The crew would trust him more than Miranda or Jacob.

First part of the Collector Base Infiltration I bring different teams depending on the class.

Soldier: Miranda and Samara. Warp Explosion hilarity to the extrreme.

Vanguard: Thane and Mordin. Thane because his Sniper skill is a great help and paired with my Vanguard's Pull his Warp can destroy a group of Collector's easily. Mordin because his Incinerate makes him ideal against Collectors.

Biotic Specialist: Depending on my Shep, Samara for my Soldier and Jack for my Vanguard.

Crew Escort: Again depending on my Shep. Tali for my Vanguard Shep since she already did her part in the vents, Mordin for my Soldier since I don't want him to randomly die holding the line.

The Long Walk: Legion and Zaeed. Since most of our enemies are afar, snipers are a must. Zaeed because his Inferno Grenade is great against Collectors plus his Concussive shot mows down Husks. Legion because his Combat Drone is great for distracting Harbinger and the Scion at the end.

Final Battle depends again on my Shep.

Soldier: Miranda and Samara. Once again, Warp Explosion for the win, and they have attacks that can damage the Reaper.

Vanguard: Thane and Mordin. Thane's Warp and Mordin's Incinerate both deal with Collectors and the Reaper.
