10/10. Man, I sound like a fangirl.

Then as the months went by, the bum beard was shown, the new art, the at-first unappealing companions, the pathetic marketing doing nothing to make us excited, the sickening declaration by some Bioware folks about not taking the risk to make a long, expensive game like DAO in the future (I still have to swallow that one, urghh)... went all the way down to 4/10. That's where I'm at.
In comparison:
The Witcher 2 -- 10/10 (most anticipated so far)
Batman Arkham City -- 9/10 (first one was very good)
Deus Ex 3 -- 8/10 (looks like a sweet RPF/FPS)
Skyrim -- 6/10 (not exactly a fan of Oblivion and we haven't seen anything so far)
Duke Nukem Forever -- 7/10 (probably won't be anywhere near brilliant, but loads of fun guaranteed)
Mass Effect 3 -- 10/10 (could be one of the greatest gaming experience ever)

Never was a fan of DA:O's plot - but maybe they will suprise me this time.

10/10 is reserved for Mass Effect 3!

Third place in my "Most Wanted" list behind Mass Effect 3 and The Witcher 2. I have preorder the game months ago and I'm looking forward to the release, but my personal hype meter hasn't quite reached DAO- or ME2-level yet.

I'm honestly surprised (and saddened!) to hear that...I must have missed that discussion. Do you have a link to them saying that? I'd be interested in reading it.

There just isn't enough information out there for me to be confident about the game. I was literally an obsessed zombie when it came to wanting Mass Effect 2 after watching all the gameplay videos despite the stupid "intense shooter combat" and "Save the Lost" marketting nonsense. Bioware gets a large amount on faith because they've made and continue to make my favourite games but I am nervous with a lot of the decisions that are being made and I normally have a good sense of these things. I also really dislike the complete binning of the old game's artstyle and I think the new hurloks look terrible. The feature that most excites me is the story-telling potential of the framed narrative since ACII did a decent job with it and Bioware are much better story-tellers than Ubisoft.

So you complain about it being sickening that Bioware may not be able to make games as long as DAO in the future yet you're anticipating ME3 a lot which presumably will be around the same length as DA2.

The Witcher will be my RPG experience of this year, and given the incredible stuff I'm seeing about Skyrim, I may try my first Elder Scrolls game ever. Also this...

... is indeed sickening. I guess real RPGs are truly dead if even BioWare won't invest in them any more. Either that or the real BioWare is truly dead.

I was at about 9 because I had nothing fun to play. But I've picked up Two Worlds II and it is filling my time well, so I've been able to calm my anticipation down.

I'd say about 7 for me as well. And basically for the same reason. Not Two Worlds II, but there are a lot of games I'd like to play right now and I don't have that much time. And I haven't even finished my first playthrough of DA:O on pc yet. I abandoned the Xbox version and bought the pc version, but as of right now I have nothing to import.Cuthlan wrote...

They've moved on to greener (X-Box) pastures.
Why bother putting time and effort into anything when all you have to do is make it flashy and "awesome" and all of the console kids will buy it?
The majority of the people buying the game (who probably shouldn't be) won't even finish it, so Bioware figures, "Why bother making it long when we can make a shorter, "streamlined" game that will sell massively regardless?"
This game series went from being one for the oldschool fans, to one for the console crowd. Sad really.

I bought DA:O without much expectations. That turned out to be a great game. So far the info I have about DA2 doesn't impress me. But I did pre-order it. SE is not on Steam, so I'll have the normal one. Another disappointment. I hope DA2 will pleasantly surprise me like the first game, though.

- EA game: 0
- Dialogue wheel: -3
- Shorter than DAO: -2
- Combo system: +1
- Skill tree: +2
- So much blood: 0
- DLC: -3
- voiced character: +2
7/10
Apart from ME3, there's no other game I'm looking forward to at the moment. That's why I'm rather excited. I've got a bunch of older titles I want to buy though. I did not pre-order DA2. Nor will I buy it right away.
