This is just an idea on how Bioware can make it up to those who have lost hours of their time. I know this will probably take alot of work, but its the least Bioware can do after all this. I spent $60 on this game and I expected it to be done right, normal bugs I can handle, but something this big is unnacceptable. Since apperently the patch that is in the works isnt gonna revive our saves, this is my idea:

My idea would involve any one who has corrupted saves, would send the corrupted file to Bioware so they can fix it. Bioware can then send it back to the user. I am no programmer, so I am not sure if this is possible, but I would definitely be happy with a solution like this. A simple "Sorry you lost 30 hours of your life, its patched now though." is not going to cut it for me. I am also truly dissapointed something like this had to happen to such a great game.

I don't even think it is possible to restore a corrupted save because it's basically a file that is partially written. You'd have to figure out what the unwritten stuff is, and for a game that stores the amount of info that modern games, and especially ones such as ME2 store, I just don't see it as being feasible.

You really should be happy that Bioware was so quick to act at all and doesn't constantly tell us to shut the **** up, even when experiencing serious problems like this. There are plenty of game companies that treat their audience that way, be happy Bioware doesn't.

Ive said it before, and I will say it again, Im glad they are responding, but this should have never happened in the first place. Its dissapointing to say the least.

There's no way to "repair" a corrupted save file, if it gets corrupted it's gone and unusable forever.

No offense but flying pigs would be more likely than a company repairing safe files. It's trivial and something that can be made up on your own. I don't excuse the current issues but things like this happen and the best you can hope for is for a patch to make sure it doesn't happen in the future.

I'd love for Bethesda to manually fix some of the things I've had issues with them, haha.

Well like i said, I am no programmer, and thanks to the comments here, I guess this is never going to happen. One can hope though.

This issue makes me never want to buy a 'new release' game again. I thought I learned my lesson with New Vegas . . .
So, like many of you, I picked up my copy of Mass Effect 2 for PS3 a week or so ago ...
And to make a long story short -- I lost 50 hours of my life. Gone. Up in smoke. I for one would like (and I think it is being reasonable) some kind of compensation for this (I would say free DLC, but I don't think any more is coming- maybe free DLC for other Bio Ware games?) -- although the realist in me knows this will never happen.
My favorite hobby of the last 30 years has left a sour taste in my mouth thanks to the corporate policies and greed of many major game studios over the last two or three years, and I don't see it getting any better . . .

" maybe free DLC for other Bio Ware games?"

LOL no way. i don't want to have to buy a bioware game that i didn't want to just so i can have my free DLC in compensation for having my ME2 file corrupted.

Free DLC actually sounds like a good and reasonable idea to make up for all of this

I doubt they'd give us free DLC, as the free DLC would be available to everyone, even those who haven't been affected by the corruption (like myself). They've already given us free DLC, like the terminus armour, so its pretty unlikely I'm afraid.

It is all just a bunch of indicators to determine where your progress is at with missions/people, hence the comic prequel, plus some data for resource quantity. I would like at least a tool to get back to where I was. Could people use that to cheat? Probably, but its a single player game and they've already cheated us, so who cares? Or at least let us send in the corrupted files and answer a few questions and have them send back a new save (not likely a fixed save) that at least gets us close to where we were.

I'm sorry... but free DLC is a ridiculous idea. If everyone's game was completely broken and wouldn't work at all, maybe free DLC would be a good way to compensate... but this isn't that. There's a workaround. Okay it sucks you lost 30-50 hours of gameplay, but you can start again and if you use the workaround your game should be fine.

You're basically asking for a free DLC for inconvenience. That's a bit whacky.

That would be nice, but I think the best thing we can hope for right now is the patch.

The patch is coming... but in the meantime you can still play the game. Just use the workaround and you should be ok.

I really don't care about free DLC, just what I paid for (in working order) and some way to not have to spend precious time repeating something that I just did. Even if they don't want to take our word for how far we were, they could at least go by the achievements on our PSN profiles.

Maybe I'm Jaded here, but I think it's a bit more than an "inconvenience".  I mean, if you went to the theatre to see [whatever movie] and twenty five minutes from the end, the projector breaks down -- and you are given two options:
1)  Go home and forget about it or
2)  Wait a few minutes while they restart the movie in an adjacent room

Wouldn't you be a little upset?

We all had to deal with launch bugs. PC had them, X Box 360 had them. They will be patched get over it and stop asking for free stuff for every little tiny problem you have with a game.

I never recall the PC or 360 versions ever having this serious of a bug. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Oh, and this isn´t a "tiny" problem. Its pretty big if you ask me.

Well they paid 60 dollars for a working product and didn't receive one.

Oh it ranged from the game being unplayable from the begining to crashing on the opening cut scene. Loads of crap to deal with but it got sorted out. It takes time to let everything filter through. But news of bugs travels pretty fast on here especially big ones so you can bet they are fixing it.

Raging about it is pointless. The PS3 crowd have already been plenty of consolation for having to wait so long for the game. I don't think you deserve freebies for game bugs. PC and X Box players never got anything why should you?

No they didn't. But they weren't a dodgy 4 month port of a game running on a system which wasn't built for the Unreal engine....
