Organics are both essential and a threat to their survival, so they wipe them out and process them before they can advance too far.

Alternatively, just for gits and shiggles.

They are health nuts waiting a long time for those really good organic slurpies.

Seriously, I'm curious as to why they do this. It's unlikely that the do it for the technology; their tech is already leagues ahead of any organic species'. I also doubt it's for shocktroops.

Hopefully ME3 will explain this because when you ask Sovereign about the Reaper's motives he basically says, "Stfu, you're too stupid to understand."

Is it wrong that I don't want the Reapers' motives fully explained? The uncertainty of what their ultimate goal is has been part of their mystique for me. Maybe they could be hinted at or implied to, but never directly stated leaving players to draw their own conclusions.

Maybe Harbinger is Shepard's father!

Harbinger: Shepard. I am your father.

Shepard: WHAT?! NOO-

Harbinger: This hurts you.

Not funny, I know, I know...

Their are like giant bears.

They feed all fall, and hibernate all winter.

They do it for survival because like most bears their isnt enough food during the winter so they goto sleep.

Their winter just happens to run around 50k years.

You see the reapers go out into dark space because it has the best drugs, and they come back to eat organics because they have the munchies afterwards

This is easy to understand, if you think about it........They are hybrids of organic and synthetic life forms. The only reason a synthetic life would be organic also is if it at one point was simply an organic life form.

This means that that organic species has implanted them selves with a advanced VI becoming a organic AI (hybrid) what other reason would a simply synthetic life from need with organics! None!.........................shocker.......thats what Cerberus is doing (Project Overlord)...hint,hint!

Have you noticed the scars on Shepards face?...There the same color as the genetic goo being pumped into that human reaper. Seriously has NO ONE NOTICED....Has NO ONE NOTICED that his unusual return is down played and not explained..........Thats because THEY...ARE...RELATED.

The reapers could very well be ancient humans who have lost there human form and are now AI's, are looking for a way to recreate there dead species (which takes millions of years)Sovereign- We impose order on the chaos of oganic evolution-.......The only resaon that they do this is because they are looking for something specific, other wise there is no keed to control it.

The clue to this is the way Shepard is brought back from the dead...Look at his scars...Look at the Genetic goo pumped into the HUMAN REAPER.......notice any thing!

they live forever, we dont, they want to absorb all that we are, culture, knowledge and keep it within them. "we are your salvation through your destruction:" by destoying us they are saving us, our history, all that we have accomplished within them as they are immortal

lol I feel like a simpleton for saying it but I just assumed, right from when we learned about them and their cool intense Robots That Have Existed Forever .. thing, that they were just having a good time controlling the universe.

I will quite frankly be let down if Bioware tells us the motivations. The idea of an enemy beyond comprehension is far more interesting then anything I think any writer of any level could present to us. But I am reasonably sure that Bioware will present an interesting story no matter what.

I completely agree. Most of Soverign's menace came from the fact that you were clueless as to why the Reapers would do the things they did.  ME2 showed that part of their agenda is the furthering of Reaper-kind, but I think their ultimate goal and the reasoning behind it should remain unknown.  Forever.

I would at least like to know who created them, but than that might lead up to the motive lol. But I really wanna know their creation and beginning :D

Hybernate for 50,000 years and then commit genocide for a few centuries and then go hybernate for 50,000 years, then commit genocide for a few centuries... That's the kind of immortality we all aspire to...

The reapers are a cybenetic virus.

I betcha the Reapers are harvesting the best of the species and repurposing them into goo to somehow save them in the grand scheme of things. BioWare villains always turn out to be fallen anti-heros (; "We are your salvation through destruction". Maybe when the Milky Way implodes (possibly due to all that dark matter such and such, since it seemed to only start popping up soon after Sovereign was defeated), the Reapers retreat. Then when the galaxy/universe/whatever has reestablished itself, they return and somehow use the genetic mush of each of the species to rebuild civilization. Doubt it, but perhaps their role is simply to preserve some form organic life, even if that means "paste". Maybe they can only use one species DNA because of available resources, or maybe because only one has a durable genetic coding to withstand the process. But, either way, yeah, calling this "for our own sake" noa.
