I called Amazon just now after reading this thread, and they told me SE does not get the pre-order items. Also, I'm in the U.S. so this isn't just amazon.co.uk either.

Thats weird because on the Amazon site it said that people who pre-ordered the Bioware Signature Edition will automatically qualify for the items.

Amazon US:

Special Pre-Order Offer
Reserve your copy of Dragon Age 2 and receive the in-game Fadeshear Sword and the Lion of Orlais Shield. The sword provides additional damage vs. demons and undead, and the shield provides 2 added rune slots, adds to your health, and improves XP gain. A code to access the bonus content will be e-mailed within two days after your order ships. Existing pre-orders of Bioware Signature Edition will automatically qualify for this offer. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com, while supplies last, and limited to one purchase per customer. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.

I'm going by that until it says otherwise.

Amazon.com is still giving the pre-order bonuses.

bluecuban just said Amazon.com confirmed they were not for the SE.

Amazon.com has said the items come with the Sig Edition as well. It's right there on the product screen.

Heh, in that case he probably spoke with someone that was not informed of the special offer.

I saw that too so I figured I would be alright, but when I got off the phone they said they checked and told me it's not included.  I only called because this thread had me worried.

I'm still holding onto my pre-order and hoping the person over the phone turns out to be wrong.

what are the pre order items?

The Black Emporium - Hidden below Kirkwall is the Black Emporium. This mysterious location contains many strange and powerful magics and items. By visiting the Black Emporium, players will be able to use the Mirror of Transformation and change their appearance. They'll be able to find exclusive magic and and crafting stores. And they'll find a whistle allowing them to summon a powerful Mabari Hound in battle.

The Lion of Orlais - A mighty shield that comes with two rune slots as well as granting the player greater health and the ability to earn more XP.

Fadeshear - A powerful sword that actually improves as the player gasins levels. It also does extra damage versus demons and the undead.

black emporium comes included w/ every original purchase of the game. The other two items are just random ultimately useless loot like embri's many useless belt. Anyhoo looks like amazon us is still honoring pre-order bonuses so no problem.

Oh now I wonder if Direct2Drive will give me the Fadeshear and Orlais Shield with my Signature Edition.

I guess I should contact them about it.

This is probably all you need to know:

Pre-order before March 8, 2011 and you will receive:

* The Lion of Orlais Shield (info)

* The Fadeshear Sword

Original purchasers of Dragon Age 2 will receive:

* A fighting Mabari War Hound

* The Mirror of Transformation (info)

* Access to exclusive Magic and Crafting Stores

*If you pre-ordered the BioWare Signature Edition prior to January 12, 2011 you will also receive this bonus content.

Note the bottom part...it applies to all version of the BioWare Signature Edition...that's from: http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/info/

And yet a BioWare employee (one of the two community liaisons here) has confirmed this is not the case, twice.

The pre-order items are not included in the box and therefore if the retailer you ordered from is not offering them you will not get them.

This issue is BioWare expected all retailers to participate in the pre-order deals if they had signed up to sell the SE and not all of them have.

If you want to go on believing that you will magically get the Ladeshear/Lion of Orlais if your retailer is not offering them with pre-orders then fine, but prepare to be disappointed when your SE arrives and they are not included.

I don't understand why they don't just put the codes in the box of the SE. Ordering the SE is proof that you pre-ordered so you should get the items. That solution might not help with people who pre-order the regular edition, but I believe that 99% of the people in this (and the other) thread ordered the SE.

Maybe it is a good thing that more people have problems with the pre-order bonusses, might make clear that BW/EA need to handle things differently.

I've preordered the sig edition from Play.com, what's the reason for the cancellation? :o

I imagine this is probably not done so folks can't sell the SE at a later date to others...I don't say that's fair or unfair (since the Pre-Order would still be made) but that's probably why.

I'm not sure how that would stop them from selling it? As they'd be getting the code either way if they ordered from a retailer participating in the pre-order promotions, all they'd have to do is include that code too.

I agree with Ramante, they should just put it in the box (obviously only for the SE) and have done with it. That'd be the simple solution to the problem.

I was going to ask the same thing. I had my order with Play.com cancelled a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to get it sorted since. They say a lack of stock. However I have been told( by Chris ) that there should be no cancellation, that they have enough stock. This is all well and good but I, being only a humble customer, have no way of convincing Play of this.

Bit of topic but it's still pre-order stuff.

As far as I know, the only confirmed retailer that is not offering the pre-order bonus is amazon.co.uk.

FYI, that's not true at all. Many (especially smaller) retailers will not be offering them, despite selling the SE originally.

For example, thehut.com

That's bad news for me because I ordered my SE from thehut.com. :(

I hope that Bioware/EA change their mind about not including the pre-order bonus in the box.

If I was you I'd get trading standards on the case (or whichever trading authority you have where you are). This is not the first time I've heard about Play doing this kind of thing.

Aren't the codes redeemable only once anyway? So it would be impossible to sell the codes on once they've been used anyway.

I've sent them a message asking about the items so if I get a response which differs from what they gave you, I'll post it here
