Just to see what will  happen in ME3, I let Tali, Jack, Jacob, and Miranda.

I'm gonna do a run where I kill off as many people as possible.

Samara will live because I'll be going Renegade, and she'll probably try to kill me in ME3, I can kill her then.

The other will be Miranda, because boobs.

...No, seriously. Thats the only reason, as far as this Shepard is concerned.

You can only kill her off in ME1

As for killing anyone off in ME2, no, not intentionally. Legion accidentally died the first time I played the mission even though it was loyal, but no one has died since. I guess it was just luck.

Once I killed EVERYBODY just to experience the failcakes ending for myself. In a playthrough I'm working on currently, I plan to kill off everyone except Zaeed, Kasumi, Tali, Garrus, Morinth, and Jack because 1.) I want to see what happens in ME3 and 2.) HotWings Shepard is kind of a jerk like that.  But, with my luck, everyone will live anyway.

Usually, the only time I kill off someone is if I have no choice (Kaidan/Ashley, Samara/Morinth). In my "canon" games, nobody dies.

I really think you have to be a special kind of twisted to kill people off because you don't like them or for "dramatic effect."

No one. I did one playthrough with Jack and Mordin biting the dust, but I have a habit of deleting old saved. I honestly so no point in killing off characters if there's a chance they'll have a decent role in the next game.

Tali since I decided to tell everyone about her father and she decided to stick her head out for rockets :P Can't wait to see what implications this will have in the future.

<--is special kind of twisted :)

I killed off all women but Kelly (Kause she's MS Moneypenny) and Miranda for my James Bond Shepard, casue Bond girls have a super high mortality rate.

Zaeed will die a few times, because the guy annoys the crap out of me.

Wrex/Shiala/Giana/Conrad/Rana died a few times, because I wanted a variety of setups.

now that said, my canon playthroughs are all about saving as many people as possible and it was actualy a challenge to set up playthroughs where I'd let people die, but you know...for science..you monster.

I killed Miranda on purpose because I freakin' hate her. And I hated that I had to wait until the very last bit of the game to watch her die too.

After the last DLC comes out and I can finish my carry over to ME3 playthrough (I want to do everything before the Suicide Mission) I will purposely kill Miranda again.

In my first playthrough ever I got Tali killed after the vents because I chose the wrong person to lead the distrction team.

I did a play through just for fun, to see how badly I could screw up and still "beat" the final mission. Pretty much everybody died except for Shepard. LOL it was such a downer...and yet perversely entertaining to see this "alternate" reality.

Thane on the ship, Kasumi at the door, Garrus with the seekers and Samara with the second fire team. Not out of any ill will, of course, but to make my story more to my liking. Cry Metagaming all you want, but there comes a point where playing ME2 stops and creating the backstory for ME3 starts.

Only once.

I let Zaeed escort the crew back to the ship despite him not being loyal.

It was his fault for blowing up that damn refinery and then expecting me to ignore all the helpless workers.

Although everyone survived on my very first play through and I didn't look at a single guide or get advice from anyone.B)

I also intend to have everyone survive for my canon Shepard that I will import into Mass Effect 3.

Then why didn't you just leave him to die at the end?

Miranda on my last playthrough. I'm usually Miss Careful about keeping everyone alive but just this once I let my feelings towards her character get the better of me. Then I felt really bad. Not bad enough to redo it, but still bad.

No. I killed people to see what would happen, but I always reloaded. I'm a big softie. I can't even bring myself to let Morinth kill Samara, even on my renegade runs.

He did it before Suicide Mission?

You can let him die at the end of his personal quest if you chose to save the workers. At least the option always popped up for me. And I always did it (as well as everything else) before the suicide mission.

I do have a dick playthrough purely for the purpose of killing and screwing over everyone possible just because but outside of that no I haven’t but may do so at some point. It seems like you would just be purposefully cutting content from your game.
In any case after ME3 is out and I know how things turn out I will probably redo my “cannon” run and maybe get a few characters killed and purposefully fail a few more speech checks to make for a better story.

I also killed EVERYONE in one playthrough but that was specifically so I could see the Shepard dies ending.

So far, just Miranda. I was doing a few test playthroughs of the suicide mission to see if Thane would ever catch Shepard, but every other squadmate will catch Shepard first. Miranda was the only unloyal, so I brought her to the final battle knowing that she would get killed off and waited to see if Thane would catch Shepard. Victory was mine.

I have more playthroughs planned out where squadmates get killed off depending on my Shepards and the choices they make, but my favorites are all safe and everyone lives in my main playthrough.

Depends on the playthrough's specifics, with one exception.

Jack. Every. Single. Time.

It's a matter of great consternation to me that Shepard looks very heartbroken at this eventuality. If I had the option, I would have flushed Jack out the airlock all of five minutes after acquiring her.

My canon Shepard has some deliberately engineered death for "dramatic effect"...

Yeah, I think you're right.
