The play through that I will be loading into ME3 first is pro human. Every possible alien will be killed. The only problem with it is there is no possible way to kill off Liara.

I rig my games so certain characters are killed in certain games. :/

Depends on the playthrough's specifics, with one exception.

Jack. Every. Single. Time.

It's a matter of great consternation to me that Shepard looks very heartbroken at this eventuality. If I had the option, I would have flushed Jack out the airlock all of five minutes after acquiring her.

Agreed. Why Shep goes "OMG JACK!" made me facepalm. He was overly emotional for someone he had no reason to be emotional about.

This is why I dislike when emotions are forced on my PCs. None of my Sheps like Jack. None. They wouldn't run to medical because she got lasered. They'd be more concerned about the ship.

Even though Jack is one of the characters that I like, I agree with this. It's annoying when the game forces Shepard to like someone, even more so if Shepard can go the whole game (or two) without saying one nice thing to them, because then it's also out of character. I like the option for Shepard to show emotion about the squadmates, but I don't want it to be a requirement.

I didn't mind Shepard's "stare thoughtfully at the coffin" moment though. I can pretend my Shepards were thinking about something other than sadness or remorse. Shepard's expression was intense, but not overly sad.

I try to mix it up. I have multiple playthroughs, and I am going for a variety of ME2 saves to import into ME3. My most Renegade Shepard killed everyone except Morinth and Kasumi (the murderer and the thief), and my most Paragon Shepards save everyone. The others have a few missing members at the end of the Suicide Mission. I think having some character deaths adds some gravitas to the experience.

Exaggeration but the emotional response was pretty much one you'd expect if an LI died.

Nope, I never want anyone to die. There are some squaddies I don't love (*Adds her name to the anti-Jack list*), but I still want them alive. Who knows if they might become more likeable or be useful in the future? Plus, what kind of soldier would ever *want* one of his/her squad to die???

*Edited for spelling*

Keep an eye on Miranda every time someone dies. She looks ready to burst into tears as does her voice. It's hillarious!

SHE'S GONE! JACK'S GONE! BOO HOO!!

Ya right as if you actually care you cold hearted female dog.

For me Miranda, Jacob and Zaeed dead. I imagine a silent vigil followed by a party on the ship with Jack dressed as the devil poking and prodding a Miranda doll.

I wonder how I can get just Tali/Garrus/Mordin to survive for a game?

Don't recruit Zaeed and leave Grunt in the Tank. Mordin should be sent as escort with Garrus & Tali with you on the final boss. Get all ship upgrades EXCEPT Armor and for the rest just go with bad decisions.

This.

I've never intentionally got a squadmate killed.

I have like 20 saves with all sorts of alive/dead combinations just so I have a large variety of situations ready for ME3 import.

The only squadmate I've every killed out of spite was Miranda. I've despised that woman ever since she first opened her smug self absorbed mouth.

Yes, I kill people off on purpose. Thane and Jack to be specific. For a mixture of reasons.

Partly because I hate the two characters.
Partly because of story reasons.
Partly because you need someone to die in order to unlock the best dialog in LOTSB.

Why? Is it wrong to think that everyone surviving the suicide mission is perhaps a wee bit too sugar sweet?

Naw.  It just seems pointlessly cruel to kill off teammates when it is fully in your power to save them--and at no loss to you!

Plus, I deal with enough death and loss in real life, thanks.  Like, way too f*cking much.  Is it wrong to enjoy a little escapism every once in a while, where the good guys actually have a change and you can give impossible odds the finger?

I don't really understand the "oooooh, it's too easy for a suicide mission" argument, anyway.  It's like getting an A on an exam, then going back in to retake it and flunking it on purpose because you expected it to be harder.

Just my two cents.

In some cases, it is more realistic for certain Shepards of mine to have squadmates who died in the suicide mission. It can make more sense for the character I created to make the "wrong" choice simply because they think another squadmate would be better for the job, because they trust one squadmate more than the one who is "right" for the job, or because they listened to Jacob and Miranda's suggestions. And there can be other reasons, like a paranoid Shepard letting the Cerberus crew die or a Paragon Shepard who can't trust Zaeed to follow orders leaving him behind on his loyalty mission. I'll have a lot of Shepards who get through the suicide mission with no deaths, but not all of them are the type to do it perfectly.

And killing off a character you don't like is just the player's way of making sure they won't see them again in the next game. Unfortunately, one of my least favorite squadmates is the only one who lives no matter what.

I understand that too well. Even the people I've lost would never condone some of the things I see here.
I may not like some of the crew, but that's hardly a reason to kill them off on that alone.
But after I've seen all outcomes of them alive....meh, will save that for a different run

there's nothing wrong with enjoying some escapism and best case scenarios.  just like there's nothing wrong with enjoying not so perfect scenareos and letting out your inner jerk in a game where the only people you're hurting are fictional pixel constructs.

some people like romantic comedies.  some people like horror movies.  To each their own :)

To me its more like going hiking in a forest and taking a well trodden path, then another time taking a shortcut that you've heard about but haven't tried yourself yet, then yet another time maybe going to hike in a winter instead of a summer...just trying out different options.

Only character I disliked enough to kill off was Miranda, which took a fair bit more effort than I anticipated, as there's only one part of the suicide mission where she can actually die. But I'm a bit of a perfectionist so that won't be the save I import into ME3.

There are only 2 people this could be and one of them isn't technically a squaddie.

...Do you mean Liara or Joker?

Because I am getting sick of Liara's plot armor too if its her.
