Sign Up Page for GameStop Employees to download PC version of DA2 demo

This early demo access is being granted to Gamestop employees only. Any
form of distribution, recording, posting of any elements of the Dragon
Age 2 demo and any of its files is strictly prohibited until February
23, 2011 when the demo is made available to all consumers.
Download Instructions: Please enter download code and click the download
button to start your download.

Here's my current theory.
BioWare works on demo in good faith to release it to general public.
Norwegian/Danish sites jump the gun and put Demo now available to public.
EA negotiates exclusive window for Game Stop employees.
Norwegian/Danish sites pulled down.
BioWare is informed with no time to recover.
Are forced to use lame Dark to Closed update, but can't speak against their parent company.

BioWare looks bad but EA gets whatever they get from exclusive deal with GameStop..

I want to be disappointed that the demo won't be available to the rest of us for several weeks yet, but then the fact that the 23rd is my birthday just won't let me. Image IPB

Haha, mine's on the 26th :lol:and I've waited since bloody July (when I preordered the game), I can wait a few weeks for a demo ^_^

That's actually pretty clever on Bioware's part. If Gamestop employees have Dragon Age on the brain, they are more likely to recommend the game to random customers who ask for a recommendation. End result is more sales and anticipation spread by word of mouth.

Wow. So I guess the flyer in Awakenings should have read 02/010/2011 if you work for Gamestop. Otherwise it's 02/23/2011.

That is just freaky.

Alodar :crying:

There was never any indication the flyer was for a demo. Stop trying to find things to hate.

I'd say it's just as likely they will resort to personal preference, and possibly say "yeah Bioware gave me an early demo and honestly I can't recommend it, now this other game I played..."

Why didn't I turn in my gamestop application? I was doing so a few months ago, but something occured that led me to not even bother. I should be happy that the demo is there at least... But the 23rd? I would probably just wait till the game came out. Not to spoil myself since its just so close to the release date anyway...

No hate -- confusion for sure.
The flyer never mentioned demo, to be sure.
The developers clarified that the 02/01/2011 would be an important date for BioWare fans.
Do you feel that a status update of Dragon Age Legends from Dark beta to Closed beta made it an important date for Dragon Age fans?

I curious when BioWare found out that it was going to be a gamestop employee exclusive.

Simply a very odd turn of events.

No. But neither is a demo. More than likely, 2.1.11 was the original launch date for DA2.

Indeed. What marketing team would advertise a day when you get to see '2 things you may like but you won't have for more 3 weeks'?

And, to be on-topic, I'm glad the guys at my Gamestop get a chance to play this. They're great dudes.

No. I don't think a demo requires the creation of millions of pieces of paper showcasing an ambiguous date. It's simply not big enough to warrant that kind of attention. Plus, the devs probably don't know when or if a demo will hit. A forecasted release date for their next game, however....
