While this IS a new interview, there was hardly anything said here that we haven't heard before.

So, no, not sticky worthy IMO.

I think you'll find the mabari in Dragon Age II fills a similar role to that in Origins, in that there's more than just a combat element to the dog-owning experience.

This is the most sticky worthy thing I have seen in a long time:D

Rather stupid to say that DA is a trilogy. Unlike Mass Effect, it isn't one story running over three games and developing. It's different stories. *thinks interviewer has never really seen DA before*

Two reasons.

First, people seem to think that everything in a series is a trilogy.

Second, some people honeslty don't seem to know that a trilogy has three parts.  Note the interviewer said that DA3 would presumably be the final part of the trilogy.  If it were a trilogy, then DA3 would have to be the final game.  Either he constructed that sentence terribly, or he doesn't know that a trilogy only has three parts.

He might have presumed that Origins was a prequel to the trilogy of Hawkedom. *shrugs*

Nice interview, although there wasn't really anything new in it (aside from the possibility of the second lightning spell being Tempest (I was right!, maybe).

On a totally unrelated note, that picture of Mike at the top is a really good picture.

the mabari being more than just a summon was the best part in the interview for me.

I loved playing with the Marbari hound and having two german shepherd at home I have a serious weak spot for dogs. That said the dialogue between the other characters where more interesting so I ended up not using the dog as much.

Do I read correctly between the lines that the dog might now NOT take up a slot? *confused* why else would it be "summoned" ?

edited to fix question! Is the hound a member i.e taking up one of three slots available or is it now summoned and is a separate entiry (like animate death)? I would probably prefer the later. Dogs shouldn't be under micromanagement control :-D

DA doesn't seem to be a trilogy necessarily or in the traditional sense, but it would seem (or I hope anyway) that certain plots seem to be going beyond one game and that everything is building towards something.

I couldn't agree more - I'm saddened of the thought of it ever ending!

They have a good thing going with the DA world so I hope they keep telling stories. I hope they don't fall into the trap where nothing is ever resolved or moves forward. I guess the blight will never really be resolved but the war they talk about here I hope get resolved in this game and then the repercussions of the war is dealt with (perhaps DLCs).

my guess is that while it can be summoned in battle like a ranger's pet on origins, the mabari can also be interacted with at hawke's home. i hope that is the case.

My hope too! Makes more sense as it wouldn't allow us to give direct orders to it. Hopefully it's AI can still be controlled and orders given to it that it can choose to listen to. Would feel more like a real war hound to me!

He could have meant that Dragon age is presumably a trilogy, thus making the third part presumably the last part of a trilogy.
But yeah, some people seem to not know that a trilogy only has three parts. I once had to use a lexicon to convince someone I know of it.

EVERYTHING MUST BE A TRILOGY.

Proof: Little Fockers.

I rest my case.

People assuming DA will be a trilogy kinda reminds me of when people assumed (also for no discernible reason) that their Warden was going to be the main character of all DA games and you could just keep levelling him up to over 9,000.

They've created such a huge world that only making 3 games out of it would be really lame. I say they make like "Wheel of Time" and create 10+.

Or its more of a Song of Ice and Fire type deal with having different characters and all but being able to sort of weave events and people in and out as time goes on.

My only concern is that I was never totally in love with the dark spawn. I hope they move away from this threat in general but too much (perhaps) seem tied up to this idea. 10 games featuring mindless darkspawn would get old (perhaps DA:A was a step towards solving this issue).

Other then that I think they have set-up a great world but the "importing" from game to game worries me. Sure it's a great idea but it makes telling the story harder and harder. The story I most like is the Templar's vs. Mages. I play they Mage side and want to see wizards free. But others will side with the templars/chantry. How can the story evolve much without making importing impossible?

So while I love the idea of importing your world in a way I fear it limits the continuation of the story (or it makes nothing ever really happen i.e we will always be at this "wizards in a tower" stale mate). Or perhaps Bioware are better story tellers then I am :-)

I don't care if it is a trilogy or quadrilogy, but I really hope that the interrogation is not the final part of DA2. I hope the game will include Cassandra finding Hawke and Hawke helping her or not helping her (whatever makes you feel better). There is nothing worse than seeing a horde of reapers heading toward Milky Way Galaxy and having to wait nearly two years to see what will actually happen.
