take stasis. always take stasis. on insanity youll never have an ability better then stasis, with any character, other then the 6 signature class abilities.

I don't like stasis at all and it doesn't fit a soldier to me, but this is my personal take :)

well id say your wrong. insanity is defined by enemy protections and stasis takes that away. the solider doesnt need much more then AR and a few ammo mods. even tho some ammo mods can do some decent CC, and even to a point AR can as well. stasis turns the soldier into an elite CCer. basically a vangaurd on roids.

How am I wrong for my opinion? :) Stasis is a personal choice and I don't need any other form of CC beyond what I already use. I've done 5 Soldier insanity playthroughs and find non-biotic powers suit my tastes for my soldier better. Stasis being a great power makes sense and I'm glad it's an option, I just personally prefer something different is all.

I notice alot of folks talking about Inferno + Squad Cryo, which apparently means most of you either don't use a bonus skill or skip on Squad/Heavy Disrupter rounds? I have to admit - I haven't even really touched Cryo ammo at all. I'm currently finishing a playthrough with Inferno/Squad Disrupter and L4 Imp Flashbangs. While the flashbang is 6 secs to CD and does take aiming, when you learn to use it it's ludicrously good and allows me to close gaps and mow down 2-3 people with the Rev before they can recover. Combined with having my 2 squaddies with Disrupter, half the time I rush an enemy their crossfire has his weapon overheated so he can't fire back.

Still - curious if people are going with all 3 ammo powers [Inferno and then Squad for Cryo/Dis] or actually skimping on Dis and buffing their bonus power instead.

i for one always max out inferno ammo, squad cryo which works great for squad mates for CC, disruptor I may go max 3pts , I max out Zaeed's for squad and Jacobs for squad , most ppl i think max out disruptor ammo , i just don't  because i use the arc projector as back up which works just as well and i can chain it to get multiples of enemies .
As for a bonus power now after plaing as a Soldier some 20+ TIMES , I pick one but only keep 1pt in it and rarely use it , Soldier has a complete array

Appreciate your feedback Jason :) I'm going to give Cryo a go on my next playthrough. Should be fun, especially for crossfires.

It seems like there is a rift between players who want to play soldiers straight up as combat masters, and others who like to have soldiers with biotics and tech powers for the bonus powers

Honestly, my suggestion is to play the class as pure as possible. I like taking flashbang grenade so I don't have to put points in concussive shot early. I've found that BioWare designed the classes really well, and delving too far into a bonus power often detracts from the strengths of the class.

In my experience, taking barrier, geth shield boost, or fortification forces a soldier to rely on extra shielding, instead of using adrenaline rush when you hit health, or using medi-gel as your "oh ****" ability. The soldier is a class that should focus on dishing out as much damage as possible, not hiding behind as many layers of shields as possible.

So, I would say go for one point wonders. I like flashbang grenade because it feels like it fits with the class, but slam is a nice one-point wonder, because you can warp-detonate someone affected by slam when they're in the air. Stasis is also nice, because it can kill the flying drones, take an annoying enemy out of a fight, and kill scions on the collector platforms if the come out of stasis in the middle of the air (because the platform has moved).

Give your soldier one of the best biotic powers. Preferably Heavy Reave or Slam.

I've been having this debate all day trying to explain that same thing to other poster, that classes are well balanced and built well , I was trying to state that if you are going to play soldier as his/her pure form or as a combat master to choose a combat power and to try using CS it works well in certain cases, as in taking down barriers on enemies in the distance, but most posters keep telling me that there are other bonus powers which are better , which is true and i have done that and it was enjoyable , I'm just suggesting to play soldier as he is and you can get a better understanding for the class as a whole.
You don't have to max it out 1pt is fine , but it has its uses.
