when will some of the more hardcore fans get over the fact that most likely you won't play as the warden ever again?

he might be mentioned a few times but really do you want to keep playing the same characters every game? in a roleplaying franchise like this it just makes sense to explore different characters and different stories instead of limiting yourself. It would be cool if we get an elven main character for the next game.

Actually, the "hardcore" (I have no idea how irrationally complaining about the Warden makes them hardcore) fanbase had kind of shut up about this particular issue. But I suppose this thread may spark yet another pointless debate.

I've already extensively stated my reasons for why the Warden won't come back and why I am fine with it in other threads.

Who's not over it? There's wishful thinking but I haven't seen any outcry about it. Not really.

Didn't you know that hardcore fans have direct control over Bioware's intellectual property and game design? Where have you've been?

Where are people ranting about no warden in da2? I missed the memo or sit in protest invite. I am disappoint.

It's like this:

First we whine, moan and complain that we cannot play our Wardens anymore.

Then we gradually grow mature and actually start to like Hawke.

That's how it went for me. And I knew it from the moment it was announced that Hawke was going to be the main protagonist.

If Hardcore equals a few misguided people who are unable to let go, i would say they have come to accept it or left the forum, either way it's nice with the quiet.

The obvious answer to your question is: "When they do." But you're not really asking a question are you? You're griping.

If the missing warden, and the utterly unsatisfying ending that was DA:A was all that I was annoyed about.

However, that is a minor point of irritation, compared to the even more restricted classes, the absolutely ridiculously over the top combat, the comic-book look, the console-like gameplay, the lack of choice in race, the voiced protagonist and the inability to give your companions an outfit that you can bear to look at.

So I guess that there's a reason why few people bother to mention the warden anymore.

Never, give me the taint or give me death.

Actually the taint did give you death so I don't really need the second line and what really stood out for me was not the warden but the introduction of the world and peoples so I suppose I don't really hold old Angus so dear, just the memory of his adventures.

But i'd like to play a qunari.

Damn, i've got to stop arguing myself out of things.

DA:2 is a new game to me, it's NOT DA:O, what makes it more interesting is the imports will impact the world, I don't need my warden to be there because it will be much more interesting to hear about him/her.

I'm fine with the Warden taking a break and having a new PC in DA2. But that ends as soon as Morrigan returns.

Is the warden gone? Here is my take on wehter s/he will return. The Dragon Age Series is not about any one person. It is story lines of individuals within Thedas during the Dragon Age.

At the start of Origins we are already 30 years in to this age. A Warden has a life expectancy of thirty years once he goes through the joining.

Hawkes story spans over a ten year period. Also at the end of Awakening it is said that some people fear another blight is soon to follow. If you are an orlesian warden you are called back to Weisshaupt, many believe there is another blight.

Now that being said after hawkes story whose to said we wont face another blight in another country. And I doubt they would make you roll a new warden if yours is still alive.

I am not saying that it is stupid they got rid of the warden. I am only giving reasons for why S/he could return someday. And who is to say we wont get another character in DA 3 or DA 4.

because the character has several endings in the first Dragon Age and even in the expansion packs. So there really is no need for players to play as the character again

I'm not quite sure there was much closure in the ending of Origins/Awakening. I think they left it quite open-ended so it could be picked up later. Not saying that WILL happen, but I think it's possible.

Me too. I pouted for a while :crying: But now I am excited to play this Hawke person, it helps I love Mass Effect.

Well, I think I'm probably about as hardcore as Brockololly, and I'd also say what I want to happen is the polar opposite of what he does.

So I don't think "hardcore fans" really gets at the heart of the issue.
