@Sair, want me to delete it? This wasn't meant to displease people, though I see how it could be taken that way...

No-no, I am truly curious. I encountered the phenomena by looking at peoples' signatures, possibly even in a few stray posts. And to form some kind of opinion of significance on the matter I'd have to delve into the quite long thread. Not that I suffer from attention span problems, I rather tend to not care about... well, a lot of things, "romances" in videogames definitely being on that list. And somewhat lazy, alas.

UPD: If you even care to, you may PM your opinion instead, so to not spoil the cheerful mood this thread has. :)

Is Shepard capable of creating dextro and levo-based dishes or just levo? A true gourmet would have multiple dishes to draw on for inspiration.

I'd say all of the above.

Something you'd want to avoid if it is made, is context-sensitive button pressing games for it. As odd as it sounds, it may work better from what the harry potter movie games tried to tinker with around the 6th title - a system of mixing that's visually pleasing(though we should stray away from the supernatural), and surprisingly addicting. Here's a brief example:

It'd be fun if the food had in-game effects. Feed Grunt noodles, and he won't be happy about it. Feed Garrus or Tali human food, and they'll get a little sick.

I support cooking in Mass Effect!

I think I speak for the 'lot of this vocal minority when I say that our wants must also be on the subconscious of the majority!

Case in point.

Everyone wants a good meal aboard the Normandy!

Hmm.. the first post looks oddly familiar. Could someone be trying to prove a satirical point?

Well, all the squadmates are actually
fasting and not interested in Shepard or anyone else's food. Fasting is
totes normal and it'd be unnatural to force food onto fasting
squadmates. Take your food-based political agenda elsewhere and keep
food and cooking out of games!

[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]  Yeah, since we've never seen the squadmates eating I think that pretty much defines them as fasting.  You can't just make them start eating... that would be retconning!

Am I irredeemably bad if at first I thought "human food" = "food made from humans"? I'm not even doing a lot of renegade decisions in normal playthroughs...
As for in-game effects - you have my support. It could even open some new dialogue (and make Garrus stop calibrating once and for all!).

Yup yup yup!

I managed to have the most burly butch scarred chick ever, forever afraid of eating anything other than tofu, carrots and apples. As annoying as it sometimes was, it persisted as an engaging diversion.

Ooooh, what happens to Grunt when he eats noodles? Is it similar to pouring water on Mogwais?

I don't know what this obssession with cooking is coming from, Shepard does not need to bake his cake on everyones oven. It happens for every single Bioware game! why are you not content to just cook at home?

I reject this idea, my good sir, and god have mercy on your soul!

I think it would be kind of fun to see Shepard just be normal for a bit. Just for a little while, maybe 5 or 10 minutes or so, and just once. Maybe a single date with an LI where Shepard has to cook dinner. The reaction to a botched meal could be fun.

I would love something like a festive meal with the whole crew to celebrate victory. Although Shep would just buy that.

I demand cooking in ME3! My Shepard loves cooking and I want to role play a chef while saving the galaxy. If you don't like the idea then don't cook.

Also, everyone is chefophobic and Bioware needs to listen to me because I say so.
