Varren would be something in an emergency situation, if there were no other rations available. As far as gaining weight, there certainly has to be an eating restriction automatically placed to make sure it's not GTA: San Andreas style.

That was an amazing and entirely original speech.

I know, right? Like with the OP, it didn't involve copy and pasting someone else's work, then manipulating and twisting their words to my own unholy desires. Am I right, or am I right?(Hint: I'm right).

Maybe we could see Gordon Ramsay teaching Elcors how to make risotto ... as a Batarian.

I want my Hanar sushi. Nao.

Note: I don't mean to kill any Hanar. I'm sure they are capable of regrowing severed limbs very fast, like Earth jellies. And I won't consume any Hanar who has not *voluntarily* given up their body parts for my epicurean pleasure.

"Incredibly Passionate: Bam."

I have to admit, that would make an amusing side quest, iOnlySignIn: Find a corrupt hanar(like from ME1 on noveria), and threaten to make a delicious dish out of him... man am I hungry all of a sudden.

To be perfectly honest, some of my favorite RPGs included cooking mini games. In fact, my favorite RPG, Suikoden II, included an awesome cooking mini game complete with its own side plot.

Ha! I like this human! He understands!

I mean, it's not like we're asking him to a bake a bloody cake or some nonsense, it should be kept appropriate to the fiction and lore already designed. An adapted food mini/metagamefor the masses.

All that we are saying.... is give food a chaaaaaance.

(I think it was) Space Quest IV had a burger making mini-game where all the ingredients would talk to you when you clicked on them. Your goal was to make money and progress further in the game.

I'd rather make burgers for Normandy gas money than scan for Palladium.

Oh no, I am completely against this idea. Why are you trying to force cooking on me? My Shepard doesn't like cooking and neither do I! It's completely offensive to me, obviously.

Besides, you can already go buy ingredients for the mess sergeant. Isn't that enough for you people?

Why some people so want to bring everything from real life into videogame? It's not a cooking simulator after all. You'll say "if you don't like just don't cook", but you know how that dialog wheel works: you just bring some ingredients for Gardner, then you choose some paragon reply and boom! you are cooking. I don't want this.

So, you clicked on this topic and you may be thinking, “what is Fight for the Stove?” Well, it’s a fan group that wants a few more choices in the meta-game region of mass effect. What does this mean? It just means we’d like for some cooking-related meta-games to be open, by way for a ME2 DLC or ME3.
And so now maybe you’re thinking, “Shepard isn’t a cook” or maybe “why do you guys keep making a new topic. Stop spamming and drop it.” If these are one of the two thoughts that reached your brain before you clicked and opened this topic, continue reading…

FAQ:

1. Shepard isn’t a cook. Why are you trying to force this on me?

No, shepard is NOT a cook, but that doesn’t mean he can’t cook for his squadmates who have the same tastes in cuisine. All most of us want is a decent meaningful meal that isn’t bland. Some of our ideas include seafood in case your asari squadmates aren’t hanging around. We’re also open to any other suggestions.

2. Why do you guys want this so bad?

As Albert Einstein eloquently said: “Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a better diet. “Need I say more?

3. Do you plan on turning everyone into a cook?

No, most of us would like at least shepard to have the ability to cook. We also wouldn’t mind a BRAND NEW character to try cooking. Please share your thoughts in the topic if you have new ideas.

4. Why are people so persistent to include cooking games in Mass Effect?

So many fantastic games have featured the ability to cook for your comrades - World of Warcraft’s profession, for instance. It allows better variety and a better experience overall for those who hunger for, well, some delicious delicacies.

5. Mess Sergeant Gardner already cooks on the Normandy. Why does shepard have to? Although Gardner is a reputable cook, shepard could potentially be the next Commander in Chef, so to speak. There’s already a cooking area in the SR-2, it’s just ripe for potential masterpieces.

We’d like to keep a clean topic that stays away from cannibalism and just focuses on how we’d like this implemented. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Image IPB

Holy crap, that's hilarious! I love you for taking a stab at the Fight for the Love thread.

Unless, of course, you're actually serious. In which case, lolno.

^lol, what difference does it make? It's still a stab and it's still awesome!

I'd bite for a cooking mini-game as long we get to see the end results of Shep's culinary forays... play the mingame well and you get good results and reactions from the crew... play it bad and a lineup forms in front of the Normandy's restrooms.. all with a bit of randomness in between! Image IPB

I'm glad you agree, isnudo - we have been oppressed for long enough by the shackles of unfanservicy... enough is enough, I say.

No longer will we head to the mess hall unfed.
No longer will we march to the ends of the galaxy with an empty stomach.
We are fans. We are strong. And boy, are we hungry.

Stomach. Growls.

When my fishies died because I forgot to feed them I cried the first and the last time in my life. I don't want my games beeing so realistic.

Well, I'm not sure if having them literally cheering you for your meals like an actual chef was what I was originally going for. It's one of those things where you still have to stay as true as you can to the material. At least within the disturbed perception of my mind's eye, you would be able to make specific meals outside of the boring rations you'd normally get, and bring certain health/damage bonuses for your squadmates(and it could have interesting connotations for an LI...)

Stomach. Growls.

Soon, my friend. Soon. The hour of pre-heating is at hand.

^lol, what difference does it make? It's still a stab and it's still awesome!

Well, yes it's a stab, but the thread is serious as well - it was meant to be amusing, but give food for thought for the readers. A life without humor isn't a very enjoyable one :-(

No I wasn't. I was like, "where the hell is my Shep stool, and why don't I see it swirling into this watery abyss"??

go play the Sims man, or Minecraft, you can do anything in that game, yeah you can convince Bioware to put this in the game and make it meaningful then more power to ya. But honesty i can't see this in the game, why would they take time to put something like that in the game when they already don't do the important things like modding weapons and armor, i can see you going to a store and having something to eat the same as he goes to a bar and have a drink. But actually making the meal yourself good luck with that.

Locutus, how dare you perform necromancy on my most holy of topics? Unless this actually becomes a confirmed feature, please don't bring back threads from the dead. Thanks. It's still one of my favorite creations, but not worth bringing back without good reason.

I can't think of any science-fiction games that do.

All that means is that the idea over the years has fallen through the cracks.

Heh.
