Since in this game there's a conflict with the Mages and the Templars, of all the characters from Origins and Awakening, it would make sense for Anders to appear.
And it has been said that they might included known characters if their story can be explored further.

I liked Anders, and wouldn't mind seeing him return. I don't think the picture is evidence of his return though... It's too small to say for sure.

I thought he was just taken by the templars to be executed?  He wasn't actually executed.  So he can basically escape Rylock and the templars and still be in DA2.

Hehe, that was me!  And yeah, I'm not sure why people think the epilogues were set in stone, they were worded vaguely in most cases, for a reason.  The Warden was not around to see Anders die, even if he didn't have a MAGICAL RESURRECTING KITTY in his backpack, there's no reason to get upset if his story is rewritten.

And we're almost definitely getting a human male mage, even if it's not Anders, so for those who don't like him, don't worry, you'll be getting another human dude to judge prematurely and hate intensely for no good reason.

Possibly yes. But don't assume death to be the end of a mage...this was proven in Wynn's case.

It has been stated by the devs that it doesn't matter what those epilogue slides say, if they want to bring a character back they will.

So much for "big choices" and seeing the effect the have in the next game. But really dont blame the devs for wanting to forget awakenings, hell I wish I never played that pile of garbage and wish to forget it as well however rumours that Anders will show his face in DA2 are troubling. The current party in DA2 is bad enough without Anders being brought back.

Also, the archer's hair, skin and armor is differen't from Sebastian's. The only thing they have in common is that they're both archers. It might be an early model, but I doubt it was meant to be a screenshot of all the companions. No need to worry about the templar in that case. "Anders" on the other hand really *does* look like Anders.

I do not know if to be happy or not, when it turns out to be someone else. It is a choice between liking the drama that erupts and disliking them having yet another rather fair-haired and young human male.

It's completely my hope that it IS him since we most likely won't be able to romance the exiled prince. If manHawke gets sexy Isabela, femHawke should get someone sexy too (sorry to all those Varrick and Fenris fans) but not my cup of tea on either of them.

I like to think that they wouldn't be so cruel as to NOT give us a human romance choice seeing as we are playing as a default human....right? (here's hoping)

Well, the picture is very unclear, but if you look at his face it's kinda... red Looks a lot darker than in the trailer. Also on the screen his pauldron is rounded while in the trailer it's pointy/triangular.
