I'd laugh if all this time that was just a random doorman or something.

And it has been said that they might included known characters if their story can be explored further.

The game spans 10 years, no? Doesn't that interfere with Awakenings?
Awakening (even Origins) take place over a relatively short period of time compared to DA2, so if Anders is indeed a companion in DA2 and even if it overlaps with Awakening, it simply means that Anders may be unavailable in that time. From Hawke's perspective, he could simply have gone off on his own mission for a short while...

I would assume then, that the game "retcons" Anders as surviving Awakenings even if you import an Awakenings playthrough in which he "died."Dubya75 wrote...

I thought he was just taken by the templars to be executed? He wasn't actually executed. So he can basically escape Rylock and the templars and still be in DA2.astreqwerty wrote...
in my awakening playthrough anders died in the epilogue...so how the hell are they going to bring him back as a companion if i import this save..?
this is why i think the last companion is not anders

I'm not going to dig it up, but someone pointed out a few weeks ago that nobody should be surprised when someone who hangs out with a magical feline that can resurrect people at will doesn't stay dead.
Hehe, that was me! And yeah, I'm not sure why people think the epilogues were set in stone, they were worded vaguely in most cases, for a reason. The Warden was not around to see Anders die, even if he didn't have a MAGICAL RESURRECTING KITTY in his backpack, there's no reason to get upset if his story is rewritten.
And we're almost definitely getting a human male mage, even if it's not Anders, so for those who don't like him, don't worry, you'll be getting another human dude to judge prematurely and hate intensely for no good reason.

Why do people waste time to go and claim how they hete character "X" and character "Z" is a bigger mistery to me

Possibly yes. But don't assume death to be the end of a mage...this was proven in Wynn's case.

It has been stated by the devs that it doesn't matter what those epilogue slides say, if they want to bring a character back they will.
So much for "big choices" and seeing the effect the have in the next game. But really dont blame the devs for wanting to forget awakenings, hell I wish I never played that pile of garbage and wish to forget it as well however rumours that Anders will show his face in DA2 are troubling. The current party in DA2 is bad enough without Anders being brought back.

It's completely my hope that it IS him since we most likely won't be able to romance the exiled prince. If manHawke gets sexy Isabela, femHawke should get someone sexy too (sorry to all those Varrick and Fenris fans) but not my cup of tea on either of them.
I like to think that they wouldn't be so cruel as to NOT give us a human romance choice seeing as we are playing as a default human....right? (here's hoping)

Also, the archer's hair, skin and armor is differen't from Sebastian's. The only thing they have in common is that they're both archers. It might be an early model, but I doubt it was meant to be a screenshot of all the companions. No need to worry about the templar in that case. "Anders" on the other hand really *does* look like Anders.
Really? I think Seb looks like Seb

Well, the picture is very unclear, but if you look at his face it's kinda... red
