1) The Shield - The GREATEST show ever made. Forest Whitaker in S5 set a new standard for TV acting. The last episode was one of the most chilling and gutwrenching episodes I'd seen - and it had no doubt the greatest series finale in the history of TV shows. Most consistent show ever from start to finish - in fact, it's also the only show I've seen that progessively got better as each season went on. Must see for any of "The Wire" fans.

.
2) 24 - Has major flaws but each episode is an adrenaline filled rollercoaster ride. One of the most addicting shows out there.
3) The Wire - Amazing television, disappointing last season.
4) Battlestar Galactica - One of the only sci-fi TV shows I've seen. First 2 seasons were gold though it lost it's way during the third. Crappy ending.
5) Dexter - One of the only few good shows on right now though the 5th season was disappointing.
6) Sons of Anarchy - My favourite show on TV right now - it has great potential. It might even finish atop of The Shield once it runs it's course (of the planned 7 seasons).
7) The Sopranos - Must see for everyone.
8) Prison Break - The first season of this is some of the best television I've seen. Too bad that they couldn't generate the same amount of suspense in the later seasons. Though I don't blame them seeing how it was such a limited concept and they couldn't really do anything else with it after the first season. The second season was surprisingly really good too, but it was all downhill from there.
9) Lost - Meh. There's no doubt it was groundbreaking television when it first aired but the writers had no clue what they were doing. The worst ending to one of the most brilliant shows of this decade.
10) Deadwood - Too bad it was cancelled.
Comedies:
1) Californication
2) Arrested Development
3) That 70s Show
4) Seinfeld
5) It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
6) How I Met Your Mother
7) Friends
8) The Office

Cool, not so many people seem to remember Blakes 7 (they had an apostrophe drought back then!) these days; although it'll never win any awards for special effects, other than for their wobbliness, the first couple of series were top stuff. Well, if you like bleak future dystopias, anyway.Corvus I wrote...

I have 3 older brothers. If you were going to watch any telly in our home it was pertty much pre determined. Don't forget Red Dwarf, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Doctor Who. Of course most were replays or records. I was a CBBC child.

It sounds like it was a nice household to live in. I shared mine with a sister who liked New Kids On The Block a lot and who was much better at monopolising the stereo and video than I was. I loved Hitch-hiker's, even though a lot was cut from the books, the TV series was awesome; and one of the great things about cable telly was the endless re-runs of Tom Baker-era Dr Who. Red Dwarf was quite hit-and-miss, though when it was good, it was very good (I guess I could say the same about Dr Who, though!)Corvus I wrote...

We took Father Ted a bit too seriously over here. Losing bets and having to kick angry people up the arse became a regular occurrence.vometia wrote...

Father Ted'90s television would've been a much darker place without Fr Jack's gurning!
