Legion said he was looking for Shepard. And that the Geth had been seeking Shepard for a long time. I guess Legion just ended up there in his search? Idk why hed be alone then.
He wasn't alone. Legion is a collective of over 1,000 programs on one mobile unit, Geth is both individual and plural "we are Geth" is the same as "I am Geth" because Geth gain greater cognative function when they exist in proximity to one another (hence legion needing 1000 to function so well "alone". I think the Geth discovered Shep was with Cerberus and somehow discovered a Cerberus crew was in that system looking for something... so he went to check it out just in case it was Sheps crew. He just got lucky Shep was going to be there

Not what i was referring to. I was referring to the fact he is a single geth on the reaper, and not in say a team or squad such as Shepard is. Geth are interconnected yes, but interconnectedness doesnt provide fire power.

Near as I can tell, he's the most advance mobile platform the geth have created. The reason he was alone (by which I mean no othe mobile platforms) is because it would be difficult for any other mobile platforms to operate at the level Leigon could by himself. Other platforms would be useful as soldiers, but Leigon is designed for infiltration. It would be like asking why Shepard isn't going around in a fleet all the time. A single platform served the Geth's purposes.

Think i might have to talk to Legion more. I had no idea about him being a advanced infiltration unit...[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie] i feel under informed

This... and multiple Geth would have been percieved as a galactic threat.... the galaxy is still recovering from attack on the Citadel.

Well technically, since it is a Reaper they would be on, wouldn't the galaxy just see it as S.S.D.D? I mean, we already think (or know) that the Geth helped Saren and the Reapers in the first place, if they're on the Reaper, isnt it just kind of expected?

The Reaper was just one stop. Legion was sent out to gather intelligence for the other Geth. He was investigating Shepard (and the Reaper's fascination with him) when he stumbled upon information about the computer virus. I think he surmised that the virus used the Reaper's technology and found his way to the derelict Reaper as part of his investigation.
We do know he visited the Normandy crash site. Also, the teaser trailer for ME2 was concluded to be Legion conducting an extranet search for Commander Shepard (likely after finding the Normandy Crash Site and adding a piece of Shepard's armor to fix "The Hole").

Legion is different from the Heretics, as far as I can tell, because that Antenna on his left shoulder is typically seen only on larger mobile Geth platforms.
Also Legion should have more Geth programs in one mobile platform, compared to other Geth encountered by Shep of the same size.
Lastly, "Geth do not infiltrate."

Poor choice of words. How about "Discreet Operations".
