Okay so I have been thinking. After all the explosions, the epic speeches, the massive final boss battle across time and space against the likes of Harbinger, Cthullu, Lavos and Gigyas. We will definately have some closure at the end with an epilogue but I was thinking it would be better if we got a special romance epilogue depending on your love interest. They could be dramatic and tragic. The kind of stuff that makes us say GAMES ARE ART

Here is my idea for Thane & FemShep. Let's call it  "Fleeting"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are at the Citadel, Commander Shepard has just been the first recipient of the NORMANDY MEDAL, honoring unending duty and sacrifice in service of the whole galactic community. After the aliens and Ewoks celebrate, Shep goes to Admiral Anderson and offers to resign from the Alliance but only temporarily

When asked why she replies, "All my life I have been fighting. I don't need or deserve a break but I have been given the oppurtunity to both experience and share some fleeting moments of happiness with someone very close. I'm going to take it before I come to regret not doing anything for myself in the future. But, I'll be back because I know my death will be on the battlefield."

She leaves and meets up with Thane. We later see them on a lonely desert planet, both seem to be standing next to a modular house of sorts. FemShep is no longer in her N7 armor but in elaborate robes as is Thane. They go inside and we see some snapshots of their happy lives. Laughing, talking and kissing.

2 YEARS LATER (Maybe more depending on the seriousness of Thane's illness)

We see FemShep walking up to a beautiful morning, she sits up in bed and moves her hand to Thane's body. Her face turns to one of shock and a single tear falls down. She closes his eyelids with her fingers, kisses him on the forehead and pulls the covers over him so he is completely covered.

Later we see her outside  near a makeshift grave. A shuttle lands nearby. From it Koylat and Joker (in alliance uniform) slightly limping.

Shep (To Koylat): You must think ill of me.
Koylat: No. You did a very noble thing. You gave a man happiness his last moments
Shep: Your father was a great man Koylat. He deserved better.
Koylat:  I know. Thank you. (He prays)

Shep and the others leave.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So opinions? I had this in my head for a long time. I hope it's depressing enough.
Also, for ManShep and Jack. I have two words The Notebook

I like it, but why is Joker completely cured and wearing armor, and why is Shepard wearing armor to visit a grave?

I agree, Jokers bone thing helps build character, and not such a large time diffrence I think ME3 would've started by then

Can it be done? Should it be done? Or is it too sappy?

Shep's back in armor because she said she would return to alliance
Take it as a metaphor.

Like I said, I like it, but I think Shep would wear a dress uniform to a cemetary or memorial.

I am hoping it is more like Dragon Age's but with video cut-scenes as well. I'd at least like some acknowledgement from the character who is a LI that they are actually a LI.

It is extremely odd to have Tali repeat herself by asking if you want to be with her after you already have been and have completed the Suicide Mission...

Not that much, considered that she doesn't repeat the "I wanna feel your skin against mine" part. Simply she asks if Shep wanna her as regular girlfriend (that sounds a bit odd... I don't remember a better word for that now :P) and in fact, if don't have the "confirmation dialogue" you can't even invite her in Shepard's quarters. But surely any improvement related to the romances will be welcome. For the ending... hmm... I'll think to something. It have to be necessairly tragic or bittersweet?

@aliemorph: All of the romances repeat the same conversation after the suicide mission anyway.

I know, it's just a "last chance to dump the LI" situation.

If it was worded as such then I'd agree, but the wording is identical to what she says before you get to say "Only if it's safe" "No, it's too dangerous" etc.

Which brings me to my main critique of the romance options in Mass Effect 2:

It all seems to be about sex. I'd have thought not wanting to endanger Tali's life would have been a lot more of a romantic and caring notion than putting her at risk for physical pleasure. It'd have made more sense if the romance could continue without you suggesting anything, and either nothing happens physically or she surprises you in the romance scene by taking off her mask.

Just my two cents.

Expanded from my original idea posted on the Samara thread (link below)

Shepard, Ashley and Samara have infiltrated one of the Reapers, previously damaged and brought down on Earth. They are running low on clips, and have only managed to get this far in because most of the Reaper's automated systems are in repair mode.

Unlike the derelict Reaper they retrieved the IFF from, this Reaper is wounded but alive... and repairing quickly. Our heroes are rushing to reach the quantum instantaneous communication node that is tied directly into a Reaper's "brain" and networks all of them. Only because the Reaper was momentarily crippled were our heroes able to sneak onboard and reach this normally impregnably armored and shielded "brain".

They rush into the final chamber. Shepard scans the node and relays the data to EDI.

EDI "Install the resonance feedback loop trigger over the shield casing. I will be able to remotely act..."

Strident feedback painfully cuts off EDI as the Reaper's communication jammers come back online. Shepard's dismayed expression quickly fades into grim resolve.

Shepard "Someone has to manually trigger the device! Go! Both of you!"
Ashley    "Not this time, Skipper..."

Ash backs up against Shepard, covering the hatch with her battle rifle... before both are thrown back outside. The hatch seals itself with an ominous clank of finality, as the whispy blue glow of a biotic field vanishes...

Samara  "In another life, Shepard..."

She turns towards the console and begins activating the device. Outside, the scene switches to Shepard and Ashley, with Shepard banging on the sealed hatch and Ashley pulling him away...

Shepard "Samaraaa!"
Ashley  "She's sealed the hatch, skipper!  We gotta get out of here before the whole place blows up!"

Shepard pauses a few seconds and casts a last glance at the metal hatch, its solid mass impervious to anything short of a dreadnought's main gun...

Shepard "Let's go... "

End Run music and countdown timer starts...

That's less romantic more FINAL HEROIC SACRIFICE. I meant after the Reapers were defeated.
Also, it could be any squadmate. Maybe the second one selected for the last fight.

Zaeed: Time to be a goddamn hero

Or you could send Legion in. My Shep would have saved him to his hard drive. Imagine a digitized Legion riding a LIGHTCYLE from Tron

Well it entirely depends upon who the actual LI is in the scene. Is it Samara? Or Ash? The scene is deliberately ambiguous and can be read both ways.
