If you could make one sole decision for ME3's devlopment what would you do? These forums have had tons of threads where people give huge long lists of suggestions and complaints so there is clearly no shortage of changes people want to see happen, but if you could only change one thing what would you pick?

For me, I would want to want to change the paragon and renegade persuasions back into a  skill you invest points into like it was in ME1. The system in ME2 punishes not being ether all renegade or all paragon in the choices they make.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I also want to add that we should always have both paragon & renegade options for any given situation.  Currently you may see a paragon route icon show up on the bottom right, but there would be no opposite choice for renegade.  This is very silly.

Example:

a) Renegade option - If you left click when the icon shows up, shepard begins stabbing the person you're talking to in the face, non stop while he screams for his life and calls out for his mother.  Shep stabs, waits 3 seconds, stabs waits 3 seconds, if a krogan is in your party he commends you.

B) Paragon option - If you right click, instead of shepard stabbing him in the face, shep simply knocks him out, ties him up and locks him in a closet.

There should always be both options.  Being social and having coersion is a skill that you invest time in getting good at, so it only makes sense for it to be a skill you allocate points to.

(and bring back a basic inventory system, an RPG isn't an RPG without this).

I would bring back squad armor (incl. full & toggleable helmets) for missions, while keeping the casual outfits for on board the Normandy.

My one suggestion for Bioware is, make the game you want, finish the story you've been telling. We will love it regardless.

I've been playing Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 from the very beginning.
It is my favorite game series of all time (especially the outstanding
music).

I wanted to make one suggestion
for Mass Effect 3 for the developers. Please put the ability to crouch
back in to the game. It is one of my favorite things in the original
Mass Effect that is missing in Mass Effect 2. I love the feel of the
crouching in Mass Effect 1. It is awesomely implemented and I would love
to see it return in Mass Effect 3.

Keep up the awesome work!

Make NPCs look different.

I'll explain:

In many games(such as ME1,ME2,Fallout3/NV,Oblivion etc..) the only difference between one human to another(in Mass Effect it applies to other species also..) is the face/hair/color/sex. You don't actually see height/muscle/fat difference. How come that all men are in a perfect shape?! thats ridiculous.

I strongly believe that applying various body shapes to NPCs(not only human, but also asari,krogan,etc.. +passive NPCs you cannot talk to) would greatly enhance the experience and could be a breakthrough in video games.

I would emphasise more on the RPG elements and investigative missions, which are guided by conversation and exploration and not just shooting things.

My one decision in development of ME3 would be to sack anybody who even utter anything that sounds like multiplayer.

If MP is not in I would choose to give the fans squad armour with toggle for helmets and interchangeable parts ala N7.

Only one? That's hard.

More realistic squad/team/crew interaction. Like Dragon Age but a step further.

I'd want a toolset which included most of the resources from the previous games and which would allow us to add additional custom planets/missions to ME3.

Now I'm not talking something like the NwN or DA toolset, where you put down a tile here and an wall there, because most levels of ME are built as a complete one of a kind thing. What I'm thinking more of is like the VtM:R toolset, predesigned areas with we could fill with props, NPCs and other points of interest. Consider the mines/space ships/2 level room levels from ME1, they were all the same layout, but they had different elements to define them from each other... slightly.

This would be a toolset with as many game areas, props, models, effects and sounds as possible, coupled with some tools for scripting, setting up merchants, etc and the potential for players to add to or alter these resources in the future.

Just think of the possibilities... and the HUGE workload of developing custom content to build on it and potentially make it as viable a tool as the more conventional toolsets.

Cheers

No multi-player. None. Not even co-op.

That would be terrible. ME2 already had too many squadmates and then you want to add some more ME1 characters? There has to be room for new squadmates as well.

I know there are many people who say ME3 shouldn't have new squadmates but they said the same thing about ME2 and ended up loving the new characters.

I want them to make as many ME1 variables carry over as possible, not just the six from the comic. This also applies to the sidequests in ME2 that are a continuation of ME1. We need Conrad!

I'd make Quarians hideously ugly insect creatures, and have this revealed to the player. It'd also be non-optional, so no skipping it!

To bring back Mass Effect 3 to the roots of the first game style and presentation wise, i.e. more 1970's to early 1990's classic sci-fi and less Modern Hollywood action movie.

If that's too broad, then making sure that every single squaddie in ME3 wears something practical out in the field.

Less squadmates, like ME1. However, far more character development and dialogues for them, with a friendship/rivalry system like in DA2. No calibrations.

That would have been my second choice but I went with the one I did becuase with all the fan outcry I think/hope they gave up on that idea.

Well actually my second choice would have been to install a striper pole in Shepherd's room.
