We refuse to give up our $20 a month "fun allowance" though. We'd rather read a new book in the cold than use the money to bump up the thermostat a couple degrees.

I used to like to take a Drive just to clear my mind...
Now, between Insurance and Fuel I can't afford to do that anymore.

Staying on top of what you're doing reduces the chance that you'll be without a job and in case you do (get fired), a transition to something new is always easier, provided you were on top of the competition at what you did before.
Being sharp & productive atm is the best thing to do, even if this still does not prove good enough to stay in your current job. Top quality is top quality no matter what.
Free time is only a luxury atm, at least for me.

Good for you!
You're a good way past the last of the Addiction. Don't know if you've ever quit before...but remember, there is no such thing as "just one" when you are Quit. I quit 2 times for over a Year and each time I blew it by trying to have "just one"
