You could say the same with "Why are they playing a techno song right now?"

no you cant.  If a game's soundtrack had a bunch of rock songs and threw in a random techno song, then I'd agree with you.  However, since this series soundtrack is techno, you cant.

Well think about this man...
The third game is going to earth,so that actualy makes alot of room for some rock without any "immersion killing" after effects..

Why exactly does that change anything?

It changes alot actualy...
You were talking about how rock would kill the emmersive feel of the game, although if the rock was playing in a bar on earth right before the Reaper assault in a cut scene or something it most definataly wouldnt kill any emmersion

It's also a matter of opinion. I want to see rock music becuase I feel that Mass Effect could use some rock music. That is my opinion

I agree. It wouldn't kill anything. It might actually be fitting, if you chose the right song. Even if that song didn't have vocals.

Funny, I thought we were talking about the soundtrack.  If there is a bar or night club on earth that we can go to and it is playing rock music, I wouldnt have a problem with it at all.  If, however, a certain character/planet/scene's song is a rock song then I would have a problem with it.  There is a huge difference between songs playing in the game world and the game's soundtrack

Okay, with the title change of this thread, I can actually say I wouldn't mind some rock music in ME3. That being said though, I so far like the music in ME1 and 2 and see no reason why they should change the genre for the soundtrack.

I also like Bows and Arrows but don't think they should add it as a weapon choice in ME3.

Isn't the song in Afterlife on the soundtrack? That means it counts.

I don't want to see a complete change. I want to see some additions.

You don't think there is a difference between music that is being played in-game and can be heard by your character and all of the other NPCs and music that is purely to enhance a scene/character/location's mood/atomosphere, etc?  Yea.... ok

What?

Isn't ALL of the music in Mass Effect for that reason?

Well then your wrong!! You can't make a comment on Bows and Arrows if your not a Bow and Arrowist! ()

Rock in ME3 would feel completely out of place to me given how much the previous two games have relied on the soundtrack to help create the ambiance and Blade Runner feel of the galaxy. I don't like techno but it didn't feel so far removed from the rest of the soundtrack that it jarred me out of it, rock would do that.

Yeah I think you should just change it to "Rock Music in Mass Effect 3?"

I don't think anyone says "Roll" anymore.
