Again as pointed out, there is an in game device that lets you change your appearance that ME2 didn't have so it's far less of an issue where you don't have to go back and redo everything unless you feel like you have to be absolutely perfect from the get go.

Yes, I feel like I should be perfect from the get-go. I feel like I want to begin the game with the face I choose, instead of having to wait until I arrive at Kirkwall, find the mirror and hope to avoid any additional cut scenes in a face I do not want in the meantime. Yes, this is how I feel.

Edit: Then again, this conversation could be entirely moot due to the possibility they put the character creator that way in the demo so people could jump right into the game and not waste time with the CC, and the finished product will be different--or has it been confirmed this is absolute? I can't recall a dev confirming it, though I could be wrong.

people are just asumming is like that since the pax demo was like this but it aint guaranteed also i agree with you i prefer the me1 aproach to create my guy before the starting story and my legend hawke is white even tough he is black >_> derp anyway we just have to wait and see if they aproach the origins route or the me2 one

Yeah I can bet you anything that pax demo just had the face thing cut out. If you remember KotOR at all, the class selection (which you did first) was exactly like that. It had the '6 people' standing there which was class/gender selection in 1, then it went onto face customization and all the other bits if you wanted. Its a very efficient way of doing it instead of asking each question individually like DAO where it was Gender -> Race -> class -> background.

As per the white-guy jesus thing... every place in the world has some kinda pasty white skinned person excepte Africa really. Even then im sure there was some form of pasty white skin. Majority of the worlds an inbetween either way. But I dare you to find a place where even a pureblood of that region can't come out pasty white. That said, jesus being a pasty-white dude in certain parts of the world has always kinda amused me.

The PAX demo didn't have the character creator cut out. It clearly showed up after the exaggerated portion in which you use the Default face

Yes, but they could have did that with purpose of having people, who only have a limited time to play, to jump straight into the game while still giving them a peek if character creation. It’s what I am hoping anyway. If that isn’t how it’s played out, I’ll deal with it. Not a huge deal.

the game may have changed how you create the character since the pax demo was a 7 month old build back when cassandra had white hair so its possible it may work like kotor (lie someone said) origins or me2 but when we play the demo we will see how it is (i know the feature is disabled but depending on varrick we will see)

Cassandra wasn't even at the white hair phase that far back.

WTF? No character creator? I actually want to make a Barack Obama Hawke before I get the full game.

We've had a James K. Polk Hawke, and my office mate assures me that an Obama Hawke and a Clinton Hawke are both possible. so even if you can't do it in the demo, you can do it in the full game. Enjoy, folks!

just another reason to buy....question is can I make a hilary clinton fem-hawke?

Will it also be for the Mac, because the full game was announced for the Mac?

I could see them moving the face generation to the front end after class/gender selection but keep any skill picking till after the exaggerated stuff. I ultimately think the look of your character, exaggerated or not is more important to that kind of narration.

That being said putting him just fluffing up the story for the sake of doing so (cause its more awesome that way). I could easily make the justification that he'd swap skintone/facial hair/whatever for the sake of pissing Cassandra off by giving an obvious fakeness to it that he knows she'd catch.

So yeah if the face generation is after the 1st exaggerated bits, that's how I'll take it. It's his initial way of pointing out he doesn't like her angry inquisitive nagging.

It is disappointing that the demo will not have a character creator. The Character Creator really pumped up my enthusiasm for Dragon Age Origins because I could envision myself playing it, being the character. I am hoping the writing will make me forget that it is "demo-Hawke" and not "me-Hawke". I will give the demo a try, but if the demo shows me all hack and slash but no story, I think that rather than rushing out to buy the game on March 8th from the store, I will probably wait to see some fan videos on You Tube for a few months before deciding to buy the game.

Yeah for me personally I want the Demo JUST so I can finally decide on what class to play for my final play through. There hasn't been a bioware game ive played, ever, that after a few hours I just restarted cause I didn't like my char in the manner I had made them. Thats going back to BG days. Now i've gotten a bit better (no 14-20 hours of BG2 and stopping abruptly to remake 5 times over). But even DAO for instance it took me like 2-3 days before I had finally settled on a play through I took to the ending.

So yeah a demo will help, plus we'll (hopefully) get to see all the class skills and specializations and get to muck around in that to make the deciding easier. I'd love to have a build mostly ready to go by the time DA2 hits so It's just making the face that takes me half a day instead of class/skills.

Sweet another item. So that makes what, 20 items, when we start out the game?

The SDCC demo was the very first demo. It didn't have anything, really.

I'm simply just not going to get the demo - I don't want to see the story from the perspective of someone who isn't my Hawke. It'll be like watching spoilers on youtube.

The demo is pretty much the first part of the full game, so whether or not you play the demo, you are going to play that section eventually.
The intention of the demo is NOT to get you started as your own Hawke anyway, the purpose is for people to get a feel for the gameplay.

What time of the day or night(and timezone!) will the demo be available for download? I don't want to wait up on the 21st if the demo isn't gonna be out at midnight.

yah, I knew absolutely nothing before trying it out just that it was Dragon Age2. didnt even know hawke had a beard then.  It would make sense for bioware to add to the demo since then, that was in July of last year.  You could only play as warrior hawke as well.

so it sounds like the demo is more than that already.

I wonder if the demo will have Hawke level-up, so players could appraise the system. And probably make a first sketch of their character.

No. While you can modify your character in the main game, this is disabled in the demo

Meh, no point in downloading the demo then for me, spoiling some of the story, will play the full game anyway like 2 weeks later...
