I'm looking forward to the demo, mostly for the magical conversation wheel and to decide whether to play as a 2h warrior or a Sword and Shield warrior for my first playthrough. I never really played as a 2h warrior in Origins because it was too slow, so hopefully the sped-up animations will work to my benefit.
Demo confirmed for 22nd February

This is an excellent way to avoid piracy (whoever still pirate the game after this, it is because he/she is not interested in buying the game at all, there is no longer the need for a free "trial" version) and please your fans at the same time giving them some ingame items, i have to commend bioware for this smart move.
Lol, no.
It isn't an excellent way to avoid piracy because people are still going to pirate the game regardless on whether or not they decide to try the demo first.

I didn´t say this would outright eliminate piracy, what i said is that not all people use pirated copies because they want free games, many of them do it because they feel it is the only way of knowing whenever or not their money will be well spent on something they like or not. Releasing a demo BEFORE the game releases, will make many people directly avoid getting the pirated version if they find they like demo and would like to buy the game. Simply put, the only people that will pirate this game are the ones that want it for free, while the ones that want to test it out will have a demo to do so, therefore reducing the number of people using pirated copies to 1 kind of person: the guy that wants the game for free, and was not going to buy the game. The other kind of user of pirated copies, the "i need to try it before i decide to spend my money" will have now a good way to know whenever to buy the game or not before the actual release of the game.

Wait, no character creation? Mm... That will be a bit jarring for an 'immersive' RPG's demo, especially if they're not gonna let you play as female hawke in the demo as well. But I suppose there are still the in depth dialog options and the fact that it's just a demo..
Read my Text:
You CAN play as Female hawke...You just can't Change her looks.
Pick a class and kick some ass.
That's my motto

Does it have the exact same system requirements as the proper boxed retail version? Can we use the demo as an unofficial system check to see how the game's hardware requirements compare to our respective computers?
And if we can, how much graphics customization do we get for the demo? Can we turn down AA? Reduce resolution size, etc?

We do know DX11 features are disabled for the demo, but it would seem logical that some graphics settings are left to the user to allow for different systems.SnakeStrike8 wrote...

It's going to be using the same game engine as the retail game so it should give us a representation of how well the game will run on the PC.

I wouldn't think that demo would have any bearing whatsoever on if someone is going to pirate or not. They know there are free trials etc ...all they have to do is download from places like Fileplanet and or Steam possibly? They pirate because they can, and because most times they have no intentions of EVER paying for a game. Putting a demo out will not curb tendencies like that not even a little bit.

Most games don't have demos or trials and for the type of person she's talking about, it does help to curb "trial pirates" or pirates that download a game for a limited time to see if it's worth their support or even if their rig can run it. Although not a large percentage of pirates are that type of user, they do exist, and the moment a "trial pirate" downloads a game to see if it's worth their time and money it increases the chances they'll simply keep the cracked version and not actually buy the game.
I would agree with Mykel54, it will reduce if not outright eliminate trial pirates..

The biggest feature of dx11 is tessalation (spelled correctly I hope). Round objects look round vesus octagonal. I don't think it's a feature that alot of people notice unless looking for it.

If the game lives to expectations and is a rated high, irrespective of demo or not, it will be pirated.
People who pirate games do it to save money or believe the game is not worth $$$.

Instead, I'm thinking that the game will start off with Hawke's family just running in a brownish mountaintop and then suddenly out of nowhere; Darkspawn.
Or just an intro with Darkspawn coming out of nowhere. No character or plot development, just Darkspawn.
You know what? If Bioware just implements the third option, this might be the best RPG ever.

WTF? No character creator? I actually want to make a Barack Obama Hawke before I get the full game.
This is a really quick attempt:

I'm sure with some dedication you can do even better!
