I'll certainly not skip the demo as that is the best opportunity for me to get my own picture about the changes made to DA2 and to see if I like them or not. Read review doesn't help there because I don't get the feeling that they look at the game the same way I do. Also about how "awesome" things are with little to no indication what might be a problem. Any games has them as no game is perfect, it just irks me it never gets mentioned prior to release ... so the Demo is a good opportunity to do my own "preview" from my own "point of view". :)

So it seems that Bioware is changing there attitude towards releasing Demos, which is a good thing and I hope it will continue. Specifically with the online authentication thing where I would be otherwise stuck with a game that doesn't "pull me in". That way I should get a good idea of it is worth while investing my money or if if I would waste it.

I am suffering from an acute disease called pokemonitis. When it comes to (free) DLCs, I MUST GET THEM ALL. Even if it's only ONE item from the Demo.

So yes, playing the demo.

I will certainly fire it up to see if it runs without complications. I mean once I bought a game and for months the only thing I've got was a black screen.

But after five minutes, I'll probably shut it down so it doesn't spoil anything.

The complete information-quarantaine worked for me with DA:O, I try to do the same with the second installation.

Anyone who skips the demo....is a fool.

It's like purchasing a humongous Steak and real Ale pie from the local deli for $75 not knowing if you like it when the store has loads of little cut up pieces to try on the glass counter !!!!

Yeah, I'll play it mostly so I can get an idea of what to expect.  Sure previews help get an idea of what is changed in the game but it just doesn't help as much as actually playing the game yourself.  Also being bribed to play it for a DLC sword also helps but wasn't needed. Image IPB

I'm thinking of playing the demo but stopping as soon as Hawke gets to Kirkwall. I don't want to spoil anything. Then again I have absolutely no willpower whatsoever so this is probably an empty promise... oh well.

So check this:

The blade is named Hayden's Razor.;)
Hayden is also the first name of actor Hayden Christensen.:bandit:
Hayden Christensen played the role of Anakin Skywalker (AKA Darth Vader) in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.:alien:
David Gaider is also known as Darth Gaider.:o
Connect the dots and you arrive to the indubitable conclusion that Hayden's Razor is codename for David's Razor which is codename for a plot to steal all the hopes and dreams of this generation in order to fill D. Gaider's tear jars and to bring the Social Network to it's knees!:o

YOU SHALL NOT HAVE UUUUUUUUSSS!!!

Now you have ruined the game for me  :crying: ... or I need to delete that sword as soon as I got it ... <_<

Nonsense.  It's like reading the 1st chapter of a book then waiting for a a few weeks to get the whole book.  Some people, totally justifiably would rather skip that 1st chapter and then read the whole book.  Not every person waiting for this game is either a) totally skeptical about it or B) totally on the fence about whether to get it at all.  Many if not the majority of people on these forums will be getting the game regadless of the demo.

Geez deli's where you live are overpriced. I haven't paid that much for a steak at the finest restaurants. And I certainly wouldn't want the pieces they left out on the counter for a few hours.

I'm completely ambivalent about this, on the one hand I'd rather just wait and play the game in it's entirety, but on the other hand I want the free dodad.....

I'm not skipping the demo because I really want to play this game... and being able to at least start the game a couple of weeks early sounds like a good deal to me.

I really dislike the fact that the entire intro is in the demo. All i want is to see how the combat has changed, play through the combat sequences with the different classes, and get that sword. I don't want the entire prologue spoiled for me.

personally I'm quite happy about that ... a combat only demo (while it potential could solve most of the problems I have) wouldn't give me a full picture about DA2. In that way i'm not fussed that the intro might spoil the start of the game for me, because:

a) if I don't like what I see, I will save the money and won't miss the story at all
or
B) if I like what I see and buy the game, then I would expect the part of the game that I have seen to be only a very short aspect of the game. It also would give me a slightly better understanding on how game mechanics, etc. work so when I would start the proper game I can have a nice good start :)

So I can see where you are coming from and it might have been nicer to get some oither part of the game, maybe some side mission or so that doesn't impact as much. But I would have to assume that it was either easier to make (cuttingoff the start then cutting off something from teh middle of the game) it that way or better as you might be able to use the same Hawke (or save file) to continue the adventures in the proper game without having to start over again. Also iot just might show off all of the different aspects of the game ... like framed narrative, combat, graphic style etc. So I'd guess easier to create + potential saved game import or so ... might have something to do with it. But later is just speculation.

I don't usually play demo. but dragon age 2 looks interesting. so I will try before full version. I actually don't mind though because I pre-ordered. for my style, DA 2 is better than DA origin. plus, I already have few free DLC so I need to play it anyway.

by the way, Feb. 22nd is 'Bulletstorm' release day, too. I will be busy that week. I already decided to get that game as well.

I'm gonna get it. It's really hard for me to wait for this game, so I'm really excited about being able to play a demo.

Why would you want to skip the demo? I'm not criticizing you as it is your choice but won't playing the demo give you a chance to experience a taste of DA2? It gives you a chance to test out the new game mechanics so that you won't be fumbling about when you get the game. The chance to get an unlock-able for free is just an added feature. Demo's, to me, are just a teaser that gives you a taste of the real thing, making you want it more.

Now that they've said there's no character creator in the demo, i'm not so excited, but I'll still get it...

As it's one of the few things that might actually get me to consider buying this game, I'd have to say that I will definitely be trying it out.
