I can't see what i'm doing sometimes, especially when using special powers or charging the enemy. It's all just a bit fast paced for my liking, the laws of physics should be a bit more realistic.
Also, I think when making a sequel, core elements should not be changed, mainly the darkspawn. It's set in the same time-line as Origins, but these Hurlocks are too different from Origins and they don't look as intimidating. In fact, to me they look a little like Scorpious from the science fiction series Farscape!
If this were a stand-alone game this would make for an awesome game. I do look forward for its release and i'm sure I'll love playing it over and over again, but because it's a sequel, it should have stuck to the roots of Origins more. Refine the graphics for sure but, it would be like if they released Mass Effect 2, and decided to make the Asari purple instead of blue and Turians with smoother skin. Changing characters drastically from the original wouldn't go down well if they did that to Mass Effect so I think the same can be said about the darkspawn.
This is actually the same thought I got when playing it.
Well my first thought (this is PC mind you) was that it actually looked worse than DA:O and that the gameplay was really choppy. Then I found out about Directx11 and that if you enable it the demo will not run right. Thought it was odd that there was a problem with DX11 yet it was included in the demo. Also no features for DX11 work so you have no antialiasing and such. I did like the cloud effects though. Once I turned off DX11 the gameplay was much smoother.
I found out also that the reason the game looked bad was that most of the effects are not enabled in the demo so I expect the final game to look significantly better.
Then I played the PS3 version and I noticed right away that it plays much better than the PC versoin and I can really tell this game is more console oriented thus furthering the dying PC gaming scene
But back to the original point...the fact that the style is so drastically changed really kills the experience for me..doesn't feel like Dragon Age. I mean had the game taken place later it would make sense but it takes place starting during DA:O during the attack on Lothering so I find it weird as the person did above..that the Darkspawn look totally different..and I didn't like their new look much either they sorta made me laugh instead of be scared. Total downgrade if you ask me. Then there is the armor...everything is totally changed..different styles and complete different looks.. While this is great to upgrade/change a game..it really makes the game feel like not Dragon Age...
I will still play the game and most likely enjoy it quite a bit..maybe it will even grow on me..but it's hard to see it as a sequel as it really just feels like a different game altogether.
I wasn't impressed with the new art style that much..well not necessarily the style..but I think the implementation wasn't that great...the game is not that pretty..a step down if you ask me.
I did like the characters though.
Ah well, we shall see how the final release looks maybe it will be a better experience
Edit:
I forgot to mention that I absolutely hated the menu system it didn't feel like a typical Bioware RPG at all. I liked it quite well in DA:O..but in DA2 it is a really dumbed down non graphical system..doesn't feel fantasy-ish at all...feels more console oritented...if that makes sense.

Actually, most demos are free for Xbox Live Silver members as well. DA 2 demo, is the ONLY demo where i saw the msg that you need Xbox Live Gold to download it.
Anyhow, i think this is rather stupid. Microsoft will NOT get people to buy their (scam) Xbox Live Gold memberships just becasue they release very few demos for Gold only (and nothing would change if they released all demos for Gold only, cause most people who have silver either a) Do not need it, and/orThinks it is money grabbing (companies need money, but what microsoft is doing, is too much), scam etc).
Almost every demo (at least on popular or anticipated games) are Gold only when they first come out. They are typically this way for about 1-2 weeks then they drop down to silver.
Never seen a game that was specifically for Gold though..

There is no DX11 support in this demo. Obviously, will be in the full edition! The ugliest DX11 game out so far too.

This demo sucked. I hated the new style. The darkspawn are so fail. The gameplay is too unrealistic and boring to play. You just point and click, and totally own. No tactics needed. The ugliest DX11 game out so far too. Where was the tessellation? I was really looking foward to this. Now, I hat it. Not buying it at all. Sad though.
Someone didn't get past the Legend Story part!

The Good:-
* Once going properly, runs silky smooth. Even smoother than DA:O did.
* Cutscenes were well done, voice-acting is good. Story seems okay, even if chopped into bits. Up there with standard BioWare quality in this sense. I particularly liked the scene where you have to kill the templar (whose name escapes me). It was actually more moving to me than the sibling dying, probably due to the nature of it.
* I kind of like the splitting trees for the skills. I also like the ability to quick-heal and quick-stamina/mana too.
The Not-So Good:-
* Still don't like the new art direction... makes it feel like a reboot, and yet it's not. Flemeth in the demo time-wise should resemble Flemeth from DAO, but doesn't really beyond voice and being kind of old (Oh, and the dragon thing). It just clashes too much for me in this regard. Also, it just seems all gritty brown and grey colour-wise, which I'm sick of seeing in games these days. The character models are pretty good, but the environments seem drab.
* The dialogue is far too limiting, IMO. Both in the fact Hawke is voiced and the fact that it's good a wheel now. Still not a fan of this.
* The gameplay is too fast-paced and hack'n'slashy now. There always seems to be loads of enemies and things just rocket along. I was killed once and I just didn't even really know why or how: in DAO I could sense when I was in trouble and when my party was in trouble almost as an instinct from what was going on and what was on screen. I had no sense of that here. Bethany died once too and I had no idea until I saw her icon. I think part of it is because the character icons are lower, while the human eye tends to be drawn up and to the left more than down. Skills and abilities seem to recharge too fast, IMO too. The whole thing just seems too action-oriented and fast-paced for my liking. It feels less like Dragon Age and more like "God of War with companions" basically. Overall, not a fan of the style. Apparently you can be tactical, but it just doesn't seem like it from this. Perhaps the final game will fare better, but this doesn't give me confidence.
* Not a fan of the options, journal, inventory, etc. being on the lower right rather than the top. Small thing I know, but it just doesn't feel right.
* The tactical camera is pretty much gone. Sure, you can pull out a little, but it's less than half of what we could in Origins. I don't like being restricted like that when trying to properly survey the battlefield. I'm hoping modders will fix this one, but if they've put roofs in the way and the like it probably won't help.
Overall it's a decent game, but as an RPG nut who loved Dragon Age Origins because it was an old-school RPG in modern game clothing, I'm disappointed that this really does seem to be a modern action game that's rather RPG-Lite. Not as much as ME2 was, but still... not what I'm after from Dragon Age. Especially when it's supposed to be the sequel. It's a good game in it's own right, and the story-telling seems solid, but it just feels kind of oversimplified... kind of like it's ME2 all over again.

For that matter, the first time I saw the dragon, I could have given oath that it was the Archdemon.

Warrior is an unstoppable killing machine.. Then mags then rogue in my opinion.
This is based off the skills we got in the demo

how do i kill the 2nd ogre as a rogue?
Make sure to use your skills. BackStab then pause. Use your evade skill while the game is paused. Make sure your tank is taunting while your still paused. Evade is the key as it will drop your agro some. Keep your warrior taunting. Let your mage aeo to clean up the minior adds.

Maybe its how the dwarf(little person to be politically correct eventhoigh thats what they are, I mean who thinks to say "little people" when they see one, but whatever) told the story he probly never saw a darkspawn, most people only hear about them and the blight. The graywardens usually wouldve stopped it midway through with their sacrifice.
If you remember the trailers. The dwarf does shoot a dark spawn out a doorway. I am sure he seen them. Still Bioware said that Hawke was a grey warden that run away from ostagar. Yet the demo makes it look Hawke was never one. Does hawke become a grey warden later? Would explain why the trailer you see the dwarf killing a dark spawn.

Totally agrea on loving the mage upgrade. Now I can have my warriors and daul wielding rogues in the front line with out having to worry about my mage blowwing everyone to peices. Really the friendly fire ending up killing me more then it did the enemies. I glad to see that AEO will no longer blow up my character and allies as well as the enemies.
Yes I almost never put points into con unless it was the main tank which I gave them the most con and agro use abilties ever. So yes magies was my bane. One aeo and half my group was dead.

I agree with most of Terror_K's comments. While running across the battlefield, I almost felt I was on Martian soil since it was so brown & red. I do realise that it is a limited demo, so the actual game may have more RPG qualities to it. I have mixed feelings about the sequel demo, so for now I'll wait until after the game is released before making a purchase decision.
