I'm really torn between playing a Mage or a Rogue first. Fortunately, since the demo is coming out, I can try both before I actually get the game.
Like peas in a pod, you and I - I love mage and rogue and absolutely can't decide either. It's going to be tough lol
I played warrior in WoW for way too long so the joy/attraction is just not there.
Heh. I just find warriors really boring to play most of the time. I used to play them a lot, but after a while it just got stale. And in DAO you got so many Warriors on your team that if you played as one you were more-or-less reduced to a standard party of Leliana/Zevran, Wynne/Morrigan and another, particularly on higher difficulties. And Zev's lateness coupled with his lack of lockpicking talents made it awkward to use him at times for utility-purposes. Running a Rogue or Mage in Origins meant you could mix-up your party a bit more. The Warrior's lack of utility and interesting tactical abilities (stealth, for example), made them a less rewarding player experience (IMO).
Granted, they seem to have spiced up Warrior (and Rogue) a fair amount, which might make the former less boring (and the latter more awesome). Also, from what we can tell, the amount of party-members of each class is more balanced this time, albeit with a slight abundance of awesome rogues (with the DLC character). The 4 Rogue party is no longer a dream.

I know, I will probably roleplay my Male Hawke rogue as a charming Rogue (ala Robin Hood) in my first playthrough.Bonte15 wrote...
But Warriors always the main hero people wil least expect a Rogue or Mage as the main character and hero, unless you think about Robin Hood

Or something like 'The Highwayman' the hero in R.A Salvatore's book 'The Highwayman'.
I personally like the sarcastic, charming Rogue hero's a lot more then the knight in shining armour type. But still, I'm starting 3 playthroughs at the same time, so I can do all three of them
EDIT: The third one being an evil mage. Which is one of the biggest cliché antagonists in fantasy but whatever.

The Charming Swashbuckling Rogue is always what I play first in any game and DA2 is no Exception.
Though I'll admit I'm somewhat upset to find out I might be stuck with dual daggers in this game and might not be able to go sword/dagger. How can you be a proper swashbuckler without a sword? I'm going to walk over to Bioware and smack someone in the forehead if that turns out to be true.

It has been said many times, but have you seen the "daggers" in Dragon Age? They are light blades at the worst, but certainly not what most people would think about when they think about atypical daggers (ala army knives or shorter). It is just the name that they chose for the weapon class to perhaps make it more simple.
But yeah if you were hoping for a single sword fighting style you're pretty much out of luck.
