My playstyle is pretty much decimating my foes and fighting toe to toe with big colossus enemies i don't like to camp a and just hide behind walls i want pure action
I played through vanguard before and i loved it and is pretty much my favorite class of all time
Now on my next playthrough i need to choose between Adept or Sentinel
i really need help on which one to choose cool biotic powers and combos or a pure badass tech armor that will make me harder to kill

Any tips or suggestions on which one i should choose???Image IPB

will you be playing on instanity?

Sentinel is hard to kill but can become boring because thier special power is a defensive one.

Adept is fun but can be quite squishy.

I would play a Sentinel first and get the hang of using biotics and setting up Warp bombs, then I'd start an Adept, they are more fun.

If you're new to biotic combos, then I think Sentinel is a good place to start. A lot of people have trouble with breaking defenses with the Adept (and I guess can't do combos b/c of this), whereas a Sentinel breaks all defense very straightforwardly. Both classes are hard at the beginning, but the Sentinel becomes *very forgiving* after a while, which lets you practice all kinds of power combos with ease.

The only real letdown is you have to wait quite a while before you get any biotic upgrades i think whereas you can get 2 techs before horizon iirc.

Yes, but it doesn't really matter for me if adept or sentinel will be frustrating to play as on Insanity just as long as its fun to play the class

If it's fun you're looking for go Adept.

Well, I've played Sentinel 40+ games (YEAH, ya can DO that when you're retired)! Tech Armor becomes addicting real quick. Adept is fun but Engineer (least played!) is much more so, especially after you get Attack Drone (3 second recharge) then you have an "extra man" on your team, drive enemies nuts. For the bonus I take Armor Piercing = NO cool down, or warp armor for Collectors; I play on HardCore, but I did to Insanity with the Sentinel (never finished with soldier).
When doing Insanity ALWAYS start with a brand new (or Import ME1 lvl 60) and only do NG+ is you are into getting pummeled. Enemies start at Shepard's level + 5; start at level 1 and the enemies are level 6, level 60 import 5 vs 10, start at level 30 and the enemies are level 35 and you have NO UPGRADES, you do start in the med bay with the armor that you were last wearing in the LAST save for that character; ie, make sure to set up your Shepard with the Armor you want, talent points & bonus power, 60 probes and 1500 fuel, then Auto-SAVE the game. You loose ALL upgrades (not heavy weapons), your Paragon & Renegade meters are ZERO so it is harder to get all the dialogue.

You don't like hiding behind cover too much you say? That just screams Sentinel. Activate Tech Armor and go berserk. You still get powers too.

My Sentinel playthrough was up there with my Soldier playthrough when it comes to power. It was also one of the most fun. My strategy was throwing Flashbangs at the enemy and then charging in with a shotgun to blow them to pieces. But there are many other ways to play a Sentinel.

I've done both. They play like "late-gamers," in the sense that they really don't blossom until later levels. I did a Cryo Sentinel and a zero grav Adept (pull, throw, shockwave). Loved them both... played them super aggressively. Can't decide which was funner...

On second thought, flamethrower on my Sentinel was pretty damn fun.

You can get a biotic upgrade during one of the Firewalker missions - the one where you get the Prothean artifact.  Only takes three missions and is worth it.

IF you like going toe to toe with everyone then the best bet is Sentinel with a shotgun. You can play adepts aggressive, but they can't get anyway near what Sentinel can simply because after upgrades Assault Armor is almost an I win button.

Adepts can be very fun, but they also have a steeper learning curve to really get how to play them aggressive and do so "safely" and effectively. Until you get the hang you will be wall camping whereas Sentinel is basically just pop your armor and go blast stuff.

^^^This as long as you plan on playing hardcore or insanity.  Veteran or below and the adept is a considerable beast because enemies don't have defenses.

A proper aadpet cuts through enemies like a surgical instrument.  A proper shotgun sentinel rips through enemies like a chainsaw . . . if that helps at all.

You guys should at least let him know that you are basing all this on higher level play. At early levels, the Sentinel is hiding behind cover just as much as everyone else. Also, "power-based" Shep's have to make the choice between maxing one power at a time or getting several weak versions and relying on cover and weapons to do the work.. Once you get passed Horizon though, you can eat Blue Suns and Collectors better than anything else.

Sentinel can get 3 tech upgrades after just 3 missions (Garrus' RM and Kasumi's LM *and *edit* Mordin's RM to actually get to the upgrade research terminal*), that is all Sentinel will ever need. Assault Armor can be obtained right after you start new game, assuming it is a level 60 ME1 character import, and then just a few points into passive and that's it. Adept has it more difficult for sure.

True true...  but not everyone has the missions mapped out like that.  You and I have been playing this game since it came out - we know right where to go, but for someone just starting out it may be different.

If you like to fight toe to toe then I'd definitely go with the Sentinel.  Adepts are fun; but as with Engineers they're not very good at close quarters combat.

Start by maxing out tech armor and evolving it to the Assault Tech Armor varient which will stun anyone nearby when it goes down. Roll with the Tempest SMG initially to unload on enemies at close range, then pick shotgun training when you get onto the Collector cruiser and you'll be able to run in close and decimate enemies at close range with your shotty and if they manage to take down your tech armor any enemy near by will get stunned giving you an opportunity to either retreat or to lay down shots while your targets are vulnerable.

If you're playing up close and personal like this Cyro blast will also make a nice compliment since you can freeze enemies as soon as their defenses are down then blow them into a million pieces. I'd also pick Warp Ammo as a bonus power since as a Sentinel you already have lots of great activated abilities for any situation; but no ammo powers.

Sentinel is a lot more entertaining if you play as an Assault Sentinel.  IE charging in close and using the stun effect from your Assault Tech Armor as an offensive weapon to incapacitate enemies.

When I first started playing a Sentinel I was playing more conservatively and using Warp and Overload to lower defenses and cryo blast to freeze enemies with downed defenses while using my tech armor defensively to keep me alive when my shields went down.  It was very effective; but it got dull.

While playing as a more ranged Sentinel is certainly very effective it is as you said rather monotonous.  Take cover, use Warp or Overload to down defenses then maybe use cryo blast or throw once the enemies defenses are down, rinse, repeat.  Its not that I don't appreciate using my powers tactically; but the Sentinel's powers are simply so versatile that theres not a lot of strategy.

As a ranged power focused class, I find the Adept or Engineer much more entertaining since their set of powers give you strengths and weaknesses that you must adapt to and they also give you more options for setting up combos with your powers.

sentinel, don't even consider adept especially on insanity. that's not to say adept is bad on insanity, it's just fine contrary to all the complaints from people who don't know how to play it properly, but it's not the style you're looking for

Sentinel, if you find yourself getting bored, start using Tech Armor on the offensive instead of defense. I got the brawler achievement on my Sentinel, not my Vanguard. And husks, haha, even on insanity they cant touch you.

Then I would also recommend the Sentinel.  With Tech Armour fully upgrade to Assault Armour, when your Shields break they actually explode and cause damage to your enemies, so you can really get in your enemies' faces.

Max out Tech Armour 1st, then the Sentinel passive to allow for fastest recharge.  Early on, you should be a little cautious just to get a feel of what Tech Armour can do, but after that you'll be fine.
